Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

I brought mine in for the brake service @ 4k miles - they said they were less than 50% worn and that i didn't need to change them at the time. I now have 7k miles and they are sqeaking evertime i brake at low speeds. Talk about an embarassment when you are pulling up to a light/stop sign/cross walk, etc... A car that turns heads at first sight, then makes those heads laugh at first listen!!!!!!

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

My car has just turned 17,800 miles, and I have not had any problems with my pads or rotors. I will admit that 95% of my mileage is strictly highway, so I don't use the brakes hard at all....
I asked my dealer the last time I had the oil changed about the pads and rotors, and he told me to bring it in any time and they will repair/replace them if needed no charge......

Gaaar, The answer to your question is yes!

My brakes still sqeak pretty bad sometimes.

If my car was a 94 instead of an 04 i would understand and so would everyone else.

My music is up so loud often it doesn't bother me and the fact that I'm upgrading my brakes makes it less of an issue, but overall it sucks and 36000 miles isn't enough.

I put that on my car in one year.

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

If they find a solution w/in the 3 years... will they replace us w/ an upgraded braking system? (I am aware of the non-brembos in 05s) =) But that would be a nice gesture if they are able to take care of us like that.

If you have some 19s that you want to sell... let me know

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

Mine went in for the 15k service, orignal pads and rotors. Fronts were replaced due to less than 2mm left of pad. Rears had more than 50% left, so they left them on. I had a lot of squealing before and after the work. They fixed the squeling on the rear by resurfacing the rotors finally.

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

I have little over 19,000 miles and I'm on 3rd set of brake pads (including the ones that came witht he car), and will need new rotors soon (they have been re-surfaced). I have had my copue for about 1 and 1/2 years. this means i have to change my brakes every 6 months or so, they squeek like crazy at low speeds. Looks like I will be upgrading my pads and rotors to avoid this hassel. Im happy with the 3yr warranty, but after that I'm stuck with the bill. But i wanted a great handling car, so i guess i have to deal with it.

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

I had the brakes checked at around 13k miles and they found 80% remaining on front and 90% remaining in the back. I was like "whoa, looks like I'm not going to be able to take advantage of the brake warrenty". I drive about 70% highway and hardly ever mash on the brake pedal. My last car's ('98 Accord coupe) original brakes lasted like 80k miles. Is that normal or do I need to drive my cars harder?

Looks like the lawyers are gonna buy a second yacht and the Infiniti consumer will see their new car prices go up. Lawyers get about half of the deal (millions I'm sure), and each consumer will see maybe a couple hundred bucks on this one. Class action suits are so lawyers can make more money. If you've got a beef, take on the company yourself.

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

if you have 80%+ pad left at 15K, you simply arent having enough fun!

got mine checked at 12K/18 months, had 4mm left. rear replaced due to squealing, they offered to do the front in a few months. ICA wont pay until they reach 2-3mm. i didnt want to hit the indicators, but ummmm, ok

I had mine replaced at 22,000 and thought I did pretty good at that.

Re: Infiniti G35 Faces Brake Defect Lawsuit

So what exactly is the defect in the brakes? Is it the pad material or the rotor material or the mechanism itself?
