MREV 2? Is it worth it?

Thinking about getting the MREV2 but am not sure how to manage my expectations. Can someone give me their real world personal experiences? Cost install costs, maintenance, and most importantly power gains adn LOSSES if any.

Installation cost: Do it yourself, no special tools are needed except maybe a torque wrench. People have gotten by without one but I wouldn't risk snapping a plenum bolt.

Maintenance: None, it is a complete replacement of the OEM lower collector

Power gains: If you have a rev-up engine (05+ 6MT) most of your gains will come from the MREV2, not the plenum spacer that people always talk about. Pairing it with a spacer will give you some more power above 5k RPM but that's about it. I personally am only running the MREV2.

Worth it? Depends. Performance mods for the G35, aside from forced induction, don't do a whole lot. MREV2, spacer, ART pipes...these are things you can legitimately feel but it's not going to make your car that much faster. Whether this is worth it is up to you.

It will give you about 14-17 hp and 15 tq or so BELOW THE CURVE where you can really use it. I have both the MREV2 and the 5/16" spacer and the spacer did nothing noticeable really, but the MREV2 works great.

But it mainly depends what year G you have. If its 05+ you should definitely get it.

I felt the difference after install, but it wasn't night and day.
That being said when I removed the MREV2 & spacer it was waaay too slugish.
I felt the difference more when I removed them (cpu probably adj to the diff in airflow).
Needless to say I slapped them back on and am very happy.

If you want to save some serious cash buy them used and install them yourself.
These are parts that are not going to wear out over time so no worries there.
The best person to talk to is Tony from Motordyne.
He was really helpful when I did my install.

Before you decide to buy anything, do you have a 5AT or 6MT and what year? The MREV2 works best on the rev-up motors.

I just put on the Mrev2 and spacer at the same time, and after a few days it's really waking up. I highly recommend it. I redline it more often now, feels great.

As for installation, I couldn't find a torque wrench (w/o buying) so I just used a driver with a 10mm socket. Hand tightened with a driver (not a ratchet/wrench) will yield approx 100in/lb which is what you're aiming for. No problems so far

BUT BEWARE! There are plenty of fakes and people that are trying to sell on 04' lower plenum as an MREV. Be sure to send a pic to TONY at Motordyne and ask him it its the real deal.

The MREV2 works best in combination of other breathing mods such as the spacer, exhaust, tune, etc.

Of all my mods, my car feels WAY more responsive than was stock. Most noticeably when giving it gas while cruising at freeway speeds. Stock, it just didn't was to move at freeway speeds in 6th gear. Now, it has no problems getting up to speed at low RPM's at freeway speeds.

I felt a slight increase when I got the MREV2 and spacer. Nothing dramatic. My most noticeable mod were conventional test pipes along with an Osiris tune.

MREV2 + 5/16 rocked my revup world. Money well spent.

Install cost....DIY. Takes an hour to install so if you need it done cost s/b in the neighborhood of $100. Requires zero maintenance. Motordyne advertises the MREV2 & 5/16" spacer to give you no less than 18 RWHP probably closer to 30 RWHP. This is what our members refer to as "best bang for your $$!"
