hello and thanks in advance for your input...question is whether or not the manual transmissions have had issues and should i avoid buying one or are these rumors untrue...also is there any signifant differences in the early g say 02 to 05 that would affect my decision on a purchase...thanks

In 05-07, the manual transmission comes with the revup motor: revs a little higher, makes a little more horsepower. Otherwise, the transmissions themselves are not the best out there, but they're pretty good. I think with most things car related, the newer the better. Boils down to your budget, probably. I know someone who had an 03 manual and had to have the tranny replaced due to bad synchros, but who knows how it was driven over the years.

I'm the 2nd owner of my car (manual) and at 57k, and it's like butter. Just change your tranny fluid and don't destroy it shifting, and you're set

And the g35 model year started with 03, not 02.

Hey villain, some of the revup motors had oil consumption issues and needed to have their longblocks replaced (my 05 had this issue and had the longblock replaced under warranty). Definitely look into this. There is a sticky that is a million pages long on just this issue...and believe me, I read every single page of it before I bought my 05 to know what I was getting myself into. Other significant differences are a new interior starting in 2005 so I would look into that. There were complaints that the previous interiors were not aesthetically pleasing.
