Well it's really up to you, but with coils, you'll always have the freedom to change the height whenever you want, without having to go through the hassle of uninstalling/selling/buying/reinstalling other springs. And believe me, once you drop your car a little, you'll eventually want to keep going lower and lower. Or say you get a bodykit or new wheels, you'll want to adjust your height accordingly to make it look perfect.
I know loads of people who got springs first, but then always regret not buying coils the first time around.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Another good option for coils would be the Tanabe Pro S-OC. They don't offer adjustable dampening but can be found for ~$800, have a lot of drop available, and ride very nice. See this review: https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...light=pro+S-OC

I'll go ahead and suggest the coils I have, Function & Form Type II. I've had them for a little over a year now and haven't had a single regret or problem with them, very pleased. They have 32-way adjustable dampening and can slam your car to the ground if you'd like. Also look into BC racing coils or Megans coils, I'm pretty sure they're all around the same price (under $1k).
I'd pass on the Tein basics, they don't have dampening adjustability. PM mrwong@statik, he can get you anything for great prices.

By your response I don't know if you want springs or coilovers. I didn't want to change the way my coupe rode so I went with the Tein 350Z H-Techs springs. You do realize when you lower your G you'll also need the camber kit front and rear to keep from eating tires yearly? That's something to consider when lowering your car, it's an additional expense but something you can't do without unless your family owns a tire company. With my front end I couldn't go any lower, that's why I went with Teins....check my Avatar and Garage.

eh im actually thinking about just lowering it last once ive got everthing else done to it as far as appearance. over the next month or so I want to get 06-07 projectors, new wheels, clear corners, and a N1 style front lip and idk yet but maybe a roof spoiler...what you guys think? should i wait to lower?

Lowering will make the biggest difference in looks IMO. After market wheels, lips, etc look ridiculous on a car that hasn't had the stance addressed yet IMO. If you have the cash and want to spend it, get coilovers. If you don't want to spend that much just get the springs. You're going to need the camber kits with both.

i also first went w/ springs (Tein H techs for sedan) then w/in a month, changed them out for coilovers. could have saved the money i spent on labor. i personally have KW V1s, no dampening options. i've had them for over a year now and i love them. ride is good despite being pretty much maxed out.
