Not sure if you can see it with the factory plenum but take the engine cover off and it will be on the driver side fuel rail at the end of the rail (towards the firewall) its common for those to have a "ticking sound"

 

Edit: its the fuel pressure regulator there was a service bulliten out to get this replaced. The SB # is XX ITB06-012

This is interesting. i hear the sound from the passenger compartment area which i assume there is a fuel regulator. But i thought if the fuel regulator is bad, you get bad MPG but mine is good. BTW i have a 350z.

EDIT: It says to replace the fuel damper and attached hose, not the fuel regulator.
EDIT:i went to my car to listen to the noise again. I hear ticking sound where the fuel damper is, also feel it vibrating although it could be vibrating because of the engine.
But i hear louder ticking noise from the driver's side fuel rail like you mentioned. How can this be fixed? There was not ticking sound before the oil change for sure.

 

Looks like you found the cause. Call up the dealership tomm once they open and talk to the service rep and mention the SB #. If your car is still under warrenty they should take care of you, if not, have him give you a list of parts that need replacing.

 

I Use nothing but Royal Purple in my 03 G and never had anyproblem

 

I only use Royal Purple in my 03 G35 and got 80,000 miles and never had anykind of problem with it, no funny sounds or clunks...

 

I'm anti-Royal Purple. I've had quite a few friends have bad experiences with that stuff. I don't know if it's super thin or what, but it seems to burn off quicker than other oils in cars that don't normally burn oil but suddenly started to after switching to RP. Some people have oil consumption issues with the Rev-Up G35's anyways, so I wouldn't even consider using that stuff on one of those cars personally.

 

Well what do u suggest for a oil??? To be honest i never noticed it.

 

i never want to deal with those stealer bastards again lol. My car has about 40000 miles 2005 yr so im out of warranty anyways.
Since the noise might be coming from the fuel rail, replace the whole rail?

 

Not hating, every Oil company does there own stupid tests like this which prove nothing, only a UAO from your engine will show how good the oil is for your engine.

Get a UOA done of your Amsoil, then you can see how good it really is. and not just reading BS tests.

I am not saying Amsoil is **** oil but its not so good as you think it is.

 

i really want to try 5w40 but i couldn't find one at autozone other than Mobile 1 and Some low company. Mobile 1 is only good for 0w40 so..haha
do you know if castrol 0w30 would be to thin when you start up the car in california to shear the metal?

 

No 0W-30 is fine.. its not too thin to shear metal it protects better then Syntec 5W-30

 

As I mentioned earlier... I highly suggest German Castrol 0W30.

The real German Castrol is different than regular Castrol Syntec. Pretty much the only place you can get it is at Auto Zone, and you need to know how to properly identify it. It says on the back "Made in Germany", and has a green starburst on the front label of the bottle.
