Oh... well one more thing.. if you were hoping to get the German Castrol in a 5 Quart container, they don't sell it that way. You have to buy it in single quart containers. Get an AutoZone rewards card and buy the oil in clusters of 3 or 4 quarts at a time so that the purchase is just a bit over $20 total. Every time you spend $20 on a purchase, they give you an AutoZone rewards point, and if you get 5 of those points, they give you like $20 off your next purchase(unless they've recently changed their rewards policy). I bought a whole crapload of German Castrol by doing that. I even paired it with some other specials that they had running for a while... and got the oil at a significantly discounted price. I still have like 20 quarts of it left at my house right now from that German Castrol purchasing frenzy I went on about 2 years ago. If I remember correctly, I got the oil for something like $4.20 per quart on average when you factored in all those discounts... which is not bad considering that German Castrol usually goes for about $6.60 or more per quart at regular price. AutoZone's specials generally run for 3 week intervals before they update with the newest specials... and there are generally only about 3 or 4 different sets of specials that they offer... they just keep bouncing back and forth between those specials and mixing and matching different individual "sales" from those specials into their new circular. So if you see a good deal on Castrol, chances are that it will come back in 2 or so months in one of their latest every-3-week circulars.

 

another option would be to get the 5qt container of Castrol Edge (Castrol's super premium synthetic) at walmart for $26.50.

 

My revup motor burns through Mobile1 within a few thousand miles, while it barely burns any Castrol between oil changes, but Royal Purple doesn't burn in my motor at all. It actually seems like one of the best oils you can get these days.

And if you really want to get serious with oils, which oil you use depends on how you drive your car. An example would be that Redline and Motul are great oils for track cars, where you're constantly reving high. It's just not so great for daily driving as it needs to be warmed up to be truly effective (high RPMs), and it also needs to be changed out within 2500 miles or more like every track day or so since the lubrication was meant to withstand higher temps, not last long trips.

I honestly wouldnt think they would sell those parts at autozone or pepboys, but im not completely 100% so it might be worth while to check, if not, your going to have to get it from the dealership.

@partyman66. are you sure that we can $20 every 5 points? idk how much you have to buy to get 1 point but doesn't seem bad. I got my reward card when I bought the oil, I think lol

 

I don't know if they've changed it or not.... but it used to be that way about a year ago. I just tried to look it up on their website, and it didn't say exactly how that stuff works. In the FAQ section, it said to contact your local auto zone for details on how the rewards stuff works.

I'd give them a call... that deal worked out perfectly for me by making sure that I only bought my orders in small enough quantities to just barely break the $20 plateau. If you do that, it's like getting $120 worth of merchandise for just over $100.

Yeah.. I only posted that just to show that there was some validity to my claim... but as I mentioned earlier, I can't vouch for the fact that the stipulations of the AutoZone Rewards program are the same now as they were when I used it. Hopefully they are, because it's a worthwhile deal.

I guess AutoZone has to do something to try to compete with Advanced Auto... that place has some frickin amazing deals on a nearly weekly basis. Check them out if you haven't already... they always have amazing discount coupons that you can use on the web and pick up your item in store for anywhere between 15 to 40% off regular price on items.

 

In california, there's no Advanced Auto so i have to ship to get an item but that would cost more than autozone lol

I was thinking the same thing. The G35 and 350Zs are suppose to run on 5w30 oil. The 0w30 your using is to thin..
