test pipes?

what are they exactly? i did a search and came up with something to do w9ith the sound... very curious... please help!

They are basically straight exhaust pipes that connect between the headers and the Y Pipe. They basically replace the portion of the exhaust that houses the catalytic converters. By eliminating the cats, they will provide freer flowing exhaust, a lil more HP, make the exhaust louder, and pretty much guranteed to fail emissions! They are technically *cough cough* for "OFF-ROAD" use only!!!

ahhhhhhh... very cool thanks. i was really interested when i read everyones posts... "more hp, more rumble"...but now that i know its no cats... its a no go.

I would only consider if you know a place won't kill ya to swap in your converters when it's inspection time. I am in NY so inspections are yearly (safety only first 2 yrs of a new car). Bit of a pain! But if you are friendly with a shop, it isn't a big deal to swap!
