Ok guys the time has come for a new exhaust and I think I have it down to Motordyne or Stillen. I have an 03 coupe 5 AT with Stillen intake, z tube, and Motordyne spacer. For any of you who own either exhaust, how is the drone? I had a Stillen exhaust on my 93 Z and it was great but the drone cruising around 25-35 was really bad and I would like to avoid that if possible.

I got Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 and I get in-cabin drone at 1.5k RPM, but I don't think its because of the exhaust in these two options you mentioned. IMO, the in-cabin drone occurs because of our auto transmission. You won't get the drone if you're in tiptronic mode or if you get the Transgo kit. Anyways good luck!

How bad is the drone? The stillen was really bad at that range but silent on the highway.

It only happens when accelerating through 1.5k RPM in the full auto mode, not tiptronic. Cruising at speed is fine, except going uphill is where its the worst of the droning. No matter which exhaust system you get, either Motordyne or Stillen or whatever you will still get drone because of the auto transmission. Motordyne, Stillen and some others are quality parts and reduce drone somewhat but not completely for auto transmissions and maybe completely for manual transmission, cheaper system you will probably expect more drone. Depends on your tolerance levels of drone and you would need to match that with money. Good luck!

Hey guys I'm thinking about getting an HKS hi power exhaust for my car but i noticed that the hks and some other brands say that their exhausts are compatible for 03-06. i have an 07 6MT coupe and i always thought the 06 and 07 models were basically the same thing. would there be a problem with me getting this/these exhausts?

The HKS Hi-power exhaust fits all year coupes from 2003-2007.

Some members with the HKS Hi-power exhaust have had the pipe that makes up the H-pipe section of the exhaust protrude into the exhaust flow of one of the pipes. So, members have bought the Magnaflow X-pipe, cut out the H-pipe section on the HKS Hi-power exhaust, then weld in the Magnaflow X-pipe.

ART pipes are Advanced Resonated Tuning pipes that Motordyne sells. They are basically test pipes.

If you decide to buy the HKS exhaust, just shine a flashlight down into the piping to check for an obstruction.
