Finally pulled the trigger on MD spacer

After countless hours of researching and reviews, I have finally pulled the trigger in purchasing a Motordyne Isothermal 5/16 spacer for my G. With all the positive reviews that I read upon this mod, I hope it gives me the same results when I install it on my car. I'm eager and fairly excited for it to come and see how much of a difference it makes on my G. Will post a review of the spacer once I install it.

Congrats, you'll love it. Be sure to reset your ecu afterwards.

Disconnect it before you start working on it, that way the ecu will have already reset by the time you finish the install. And be very careful when torquing the bolts. Remember, it's in-lbs, not ft-lbs!

and use more loctite than they supply with the spacer... don't smother the threads, but cover the tips and a few threads above. my bolts loosened after a few months and threw a CEL. retorqued with liberal loctite and CEL disappeared!

Thanks for all the help guys, will be sure to keep all of that in mind when it arrives at my house I'm hoping the iso thermal makes a difference compared to the regular 5/16, because I had a friend who purchased the regular 5/16 for his G, and it didn't show much gains aside from a faster throttle response.

Just keep in mind that, IIRC, there aren't incremental gains to be expected from the iso-thermal vs. regular spacer. It's the increased airflow to the last 2 cylinders that results in the gain; the Iso-thermal gasket just helps reduce heatsoak and resulting power loss. Essentially it helps keep the power you gain from the spacer, but it doesn't add incremental power.

I too have orderd an MD iso thermal 5/16" plenum spacer and waiting for it to arrive to my house. I am also excited and anxious to install that bad boy, but I have a question. I also have a grounding kit connected to my plennum. My question is: will the bolts fit that hold down the bottom and top plennum with the spacer and the grounding kit installed? Will the bolts be long enough to hold down everything?

I have the 5/16" iso thermal spacer with Sean's grounding kit. Everything fits fine.

+1 on all of that. And remember just take your time and do it right the first time.

is it true the 5/16 spacer give a slight growl to the engine or is that just the 1/2?

They both do. 1/2 is a little louder. Whether you'll actually hear it or not depends on if your intake or exhaust is louder.
