Oh, save your money on the pop-up Nav junk. The nav systems in these cars aren't worth what you spend. Accuracy and user interface stink compared to a $120 Garmin. My coupe does not have nav and I hate the nav in my 07 G35X.

I'm seriously thinking about moding the door on the flip up storage space (where the factory nav goes) to hold my cheapo Garmin. All I'd need to do is drill a small hole for the cord plug to fit into and velcro tape the Garmin to the back of the flip up door. Just flip it open and there's the Garmin. Flip it shut and everything is out of site (except the cord of course). Want to take it out? Un-velcro it.

Anyway, don't waste your money on what will be an outdated, poorly designed nav system that costs more than it is worth to do a software upgrade on.

Good point and in truth, the interior on this car has held up pretty well. It looks fine. It just rattles and squeaks in so many places I've given up trying to find them. I just turn up the radio or open a window to drown it all out.

Which brings up another point. The radio is mediocre at best. I'm pretty sure the one in my 03 F150 sounds better. Seriously.

The one in the 07 G35X sounds great.

And I'm not just bashing the G35 coupe, I love mine. Just trying to let the OP know what he can realistically expect.

George

my father has a 07 g35X. personally i feel alot more at home in my car…. i drive a 06 OB g35 coupe 6mt. i feel that the seats are more comfortable in my car, and i also like having seperate climate control, and stero controls. i also love my GPS. but i guess that is just my opinion. that is another thing.. my radio is more than adequate. my buddy that has an 03 G put a single 15 inch sub in the trunk, and really i think that is all our cars need to round off the sound system...

You can not compare a Jetta and a g35... I have had both. I recently bought an 03 IP Coupe and love it. Just make sure to research the possible issues you could have.. ie. Oil Consumption. (That will not affect you if its not a Revup engine) If you going to buy a manual I would buy an 03-04 so that way you don't have much of a chance of OC issues. If your going to blow your bonus on something, this would be a good way to do it. WHen I was in the marines, everytime I came back from deployment I blew all my money on partying and non-sense.

I bought my 05' 6mt coupe last year with 114k on it. It had a oil consumption issue. The air bag light is still flashing and my tire pressure light comes on after about 20 miles of driving. BUT.....BUT..... BUT..... I put in a new motor at 130k and it is by far my favorite car I've had, and I have had over 30+ cars since 16 and love the torque and the visual response I get from this car. It's gorgeous and fast. You can't beat it. The other issues are minor.

thank yall so much for the advice....since i put this up i did my onw research a little bit and i found that people have had issues with the brakes and rotors going fast and having to replace them yearly which most said gets expensive---500.00 a year. also i have found some other common issues such as climate control stops working, there is stereo issues once reach a certain mileage, dashboard gauge electrical issues...all of these seem like common problems on a used car with a lot of miles which is pretty common...unfortunately the military isnt known for its high salary so im trying to do as much homework as i can. i appreciate all the advice. im going to check into 05+ and see if they fit my budget....i havent heard anything about this oil consumption problem so im def going to check into that and thanks for the advice about the pop up nav it def looks sweet but if its not working that great then its really not needed....the g35's that ive seen so far that people are trying to sell in my neighborhood of prices have already been tuned...to me i would prob rather have as few parts replaced as possible reason being ive heard its harder to find problems/ fix them when the whole car has been upgraded....if yall have any advice about this that would be sweet...look at many different places i just want to point out one funny thing everyone in there adds states it comes with brembo brakes and from what ive read it is stock but its funny how people try to advertise them like there something special...i mean i no there good but anyone who did a little research would no they are stock lol.....thanks guys

is there anyway to tell if it has an oc issue or is up to the honesty of the seller

There is no solution to the rattling. Its just a cheap interior but it isn't a big problem. You're not likely to find a car with 75k miles on it with no rattles, etc.

Another thing to remember when doing internet research: most of the info out there comes in the form of complaints. There are millions of these cars on the road and no one goes online to tell you that their radio works fine or that their car has no problems with oil consumption or their their AC is really cold. So you don't get a fair representation of quality based on internet reports. I believe Infinitis regularly rank near the top with Consumer Reports, etc.

No matter what you do, TRY to get the REV-UP motor if your going to do major upgrades to the block in the future. The windage tray holds the main caps which equals a stronger bottom end. Which also means, if you are panning on boosting it, then its the one you want. There are many other improvements, so if you can spot one go for it. Good luck dude... I see you're currently in VA. Find one if you can that hasn't been abused to ****e. Lots of the G's around here (esp in Northern VA) have been misused and traded in.

Which years and models have the Rev Up engine? Which years and models have oil consumption issues?
