Question Up the Weight ?

Hello.

Right now my G is around 60k Miles. Ive been using 5w-30 Syn for about 15k miles now. But since ive reached 60K should i switch to a thicker weight such as 0w-40/10w40 ? i know the numbers in front are for winter weather. So what im looking at is the second numbers.

Thanks

i'd stick w/ 5w-30 and reasonable change intervals unless you consistently drive at high rpm's. 0W-40 might be ok in your so-cal climate but I would'nt raise the cold viscosity.

In your location anything up to, and including, 20/50 will work just fine.

I've never upped the weight on any of my cars yet. Never had any issues with blow-by or excessive oil burning in any of them either over the course of the past 17 years of driving.

Newer cars don't need to change oils as they age. As mentioned change your oil and filter regularly and you'll be good well into the upper 100K mile range if not longer.
