LF: Tips for installing Nismo Exhaust + Berk HFC

I'm picking up this sweet exhaust setup this week. I'm pretty excited about the install this weekend. I've already ordered the extension piece and I'm looking for any tips from people who have done this before.

I'm buying a few ratchet extensions, some flex extensions and some beer.

The great part about the install is that the friend who will be assisting me, is letting me use a car lift in his garage at home.

Being able to use a lift will cut your install time way down and make the install easy. SEARCH the DIY HFC install, it shows everything you need to know. Use the OE gaskets, they're much better than aftermarket!

new gaskets and liquid wrench.. don't skimp on this or you'll be chasing exhaust leaks. i always suggest using 6 pt sockets to prevent stripping the nuts, especially on the HFC to header bolts, and a socket made to remove the o2 sensors without damaging them. Torque wrench is also a good idea to be sure the pipes are properly connected.

OEM will work for HFC to header but since these are multi-layered metal gaskets they should be ok to be re-used if this is the first time you're removing the stock cats. They're triangular and you need to remember how they were removed to not reverse them or change their orientation on the header flange. Read the Berk installation instructions to understand what I mean. I re-used mine with no problem.

The HFC to Y pipe and any gaskets used in your exhaust will be larger than stock. ...and I don't suggest using any liquid gasket to shortcut having to wait to get the right parts. Soft gaskets, unlike the more expensive header gaskets, are cheap and meant to be replaced. Take if from experience and regret... been there, done that, won't repeat it again

I've had five exhaust systems on my coupe and reused the same gaskets, no I've never had a leak! If you want to be 110% sure you won't have any issues go to Nissan and buy new OE gaskets from them....but it's not necessary.
