I get 15mpg city. 2006 6mt

I had a 2010 G37 sedan loaner with only 4k miles. It also only got 15mpg city.

People claiming 18-22 mpg city are full of it.

I get good gas mileage when I drive normally, which usually isn't the case, but I've gotten 20's before.

I don't, I always shift at 3-4k. Usually at 3.5k.

The G is rated at 18/25, and we all know damn well, real world numbers are 'usually' lower then the marketed EPA ratings....

Here is an edmunds test...

I dont drive like an idiot or so i think but my mileage in the city literally sucks *****.....
I drove about a hundred miles on highway and used up the first quarter of my tank and i used the next half of my tank almost all in the city for just 89 miles!!! That is probably less than 10 miles a gallon in the city which is ****ty!!!!!
I love my G, no doubt about how great a car it is but wtf!!! I've gotten around to driving it in the city more and more sensibly but the mileage still sucks!!!
Now i'm wondering whether the car has some problem thats affecting the mileage... anyone got any ideas?

City mileage sucks in these cars... just the way it is. You can't figure out your mpg by the gas gauge. Go to the same pump every time you fill up, and divide the total number of gallons needed to fill up by how many miles you drive. That will give you a pretty good idea of your mileage. If you are getting truly getting 10 MPG then something probably needs to be fixed, but if you getting 14-16 MPG in the city, its just the car, and maybe a little heavy foot.

I get 15-16 MPG, mixed highway and city driving. My foot is extremely heavy.

Gas mileage is overrated. In the grand scheme of things gas is a minor expense even if you drive more than 20k miles a year. A few extra mpg is only going to save you maybe $500 over the course of a year, which is nothing to sweat about. We knew these cars didn't get good gas mileage when we bought them. Just fill it up and drive!
