New owner in Montreal - Chip questions / Winter tires

Hey folks,

I'm a new owner in Montreal. I just picked up a 06 g35 6MT with very low kilometers.

I used to have a BMW 135i, but the lease was costing me way too much, so I decided to buy a lightly used car. Found the G35 and fell in love with it's looks.

The only complaint I have is that the G35 doesn't have anywhere close to the torque my 135 had. Looking for a chip to boost the perf. in the G35.

Has anyone here installed a chip? I found this on the web, anyone have experience with this? http://www.gfchips.com/infinitig35.aspx

Also, our winters in Montreal are pretty bad. I'm shopping around for a deal on winter tires... Do you guys think I can fit 17 inch winters on the G35?

Welcome. Maybe you should have looked into this car before you purchased it. This being your first post I'll be nice and tell you to use the search button.

I highly doubt you will see any gains from that "chip". Looks pretty bogus to me.

Yea, I thought it was bogus too...

I'll do some research on the board here, and see what kind of upgrades are best suited to my needs. Winter is coming here anyways. Priority is to get some winter shoes!

You can fit 17" winter tires.

As for the chip, no on that. If you want torque, you're gonna have to do it with usual mods, no shortcuts

Thanks. Just starting to get familiar with the G35. Looked at the manual for the tire sizes!

Any cheap mods you guys would suggest to improve the HP?

Do not buy that chip it is only a resistor that does nothing!

If you want more power the quick way to pick up 25 hp is a tune.
and for real power and drive ability with little issues go with the Vortech supper Charger 410 hp 380 tq stock block.

gamobot -- for winter tires check your local kijiji/craiglist/bargain finder as well as the Cdn marketplace. It's nice to have a summer and winter set of rims if you can swing it, reduces the time and cost of changeover.
