Red face Tire Question...Plz Help

I'm trying to replace my fronts with the backs 245/45/18 and putting 265/40/18 in the back. But when i went to tire shop, the mechanic scared me that it's gonna messup the transmission........ so i didn't do it.
Also I'm gonna put them on the company OEM rims....... have any of u guys done this........ would it have any effect on the transmission and the driveability of the car? Also would the 265/40/18 fit on the oem rims.

PS: I don't have any spacers and the car is not lowered.

Thanks for any help guys.

I understand what the tech was saying about the transmission, had the same problem with my silverado when i started running 37's instead of the factory 29". HOWEVER, i can't imagine that what...3/4" per tire would effect the transmission that much if at all....however i am a noob when it comes to G's....

If I understand you're question, you're trying to put a bigger size tire in the front?(your switching you're front tires for your back ones and adding new tires on the rear?) What are stock tire size for the G's? I don't know much about G's or car but what I can tell you is putting bigger tires might give you some rubbing action on your fenders/wheel-well , or make you go a faster speed then what your speedometer say's from what I know, sorry I couldn't really answer you're question.

I don't think you'll have transmission problems (this usually only happens with AWD cars with different sized tires). But you will indeed have a problem with your speedometer being off.

Do the right thing, just buy new fronts now and new rears later.
