Gotta quote to get the G painted..

Just a respray, ol girl has a quite a few war wounds so I thought I'd look into getting her painted same OB but with a higher quality paint and clear coat. So for just a respray, no engine bay, door jams, or trunk they said $4500. To me that seems a little steep. What do you guys think????

Seems reasonable to me. I'm sure they're doing SOME prep work.

Are you kidding? A REAL paint job costs a small fortune.

its expensive, but you should get more quotes from other places before pulling the trigger on 4.5k for a respray. When i wanted to respray my car in CA at least, i was told it would cost roughly around 2k for it. Good Luck!

I'm not wanting a "REAL" paint job, just a respray, the outside only.

Just depending on dents/rust just small cosmetic stuff... and if you want it right like sand, dents removed, and what not its going to cost roughly 2-4 grand, but ask around make sure you go to a place that has good rep.

I recently went down this path myself and, after calling around several places in the San Diego/OC area, this is what I found.

For a respray (without sanding down the old paintjob) it would cost anywhere from $2000 (without de-trimming) to $3500 to $4500 (with detrimming). Also, M.O.B. works in OC told me that if I just painted over the paint on there now, I would have a 50/50 chance that the paint wouldn't react well and I would start to see splitting. I don't know if I buy that as no other shop mentioned this as a problem, but that's what Miguel told me.

Now, to sand down the old paint job you're looking at anywhere from $5000 to $10000 easily.

Note: All these quotes are from quality places (not MAACO)

My friend's car was vandalized (uh..spelling?) and got the insurance company to pay for a brand new factory paint job. It was almost $8K... and it does seem normal for a GOOD paintjob to run anywhere between $5K ~ $10K like ThickG said.

You have to think that the most expensive part is the labor which there will probably be alot of...

I have been thinking of repainting my G due to the fact that there is clear coat peeling in the rear... I wonder what it would cost if you sanded it down yourself before having it painted...
