Putting an Eclipse AVN5435 head unit into the 04 IP G?

I was considering putting this head unit into my newly bought G. I don't like the orange letter interior + cassette player my G currently features and would like to get something nice in there. I have the premium package for 2004, Bose premium sound system, factory nav, ect.

Do you guys recommend making the switch? If not, does anybody have any other head units that you think would be better? My price range is under 1k. Amazon has new AVN5435s for $999 which is probably the max I'd go for a new head unit. A used one I saw would be considerably cheaper ($450), but I don't know if buying a used one would be the best way to go. Thanks for any input!

Here's a pic of what it would look like, taken from another owner who installed it on his car:

I put in the Pioneer AVIC-710BT. The one regret I have is not looking for a HU that has a silver face (I have the light interior). This won't matter for you if you have the black interior.

The switch overall is a HUGE plus. There's no doubt that the factory HU sucks ***** so go for it! Keep in mind though, if your budget is $1000, the install kit from Metra is $200 itself.

Thanks for the response!! How do you like your AVIC-710BT? It plays DVDs, right?

The size of the screen plays somewhat of a role in my decision, I'd prefer a bigger screen, this is why I was looking at the AVN5435.

The AVIC-710BT does NOT play DVDs (It wasn't what I was looking for) but the 910BT does. The 710 is very decent for the price. I also previously had an AVIC-N3 in my previous car so the jump was very easy. It comes down to lots of options (add-ons, Bluetooth, etc) for little money.

There's no doubt the Eclipse HU will be awesome (they make great stuff).

I was thinking about getting a Pioneer AVH-P3100 because it is considerably cheaper ($319.99) as opposed to $999.99. Anybody have this head unit? It looks pretty solid based on preliminary research, it plays DVDs and has a 5.8 inch touch screen.
