Style of Driving at Tracks

Those that take the G’s to the track and run good times.… What’s your style of driving…?
Let’s take me for example… I run my car with ugly number’s… 14.9 to 15.3… at the line… I usually try to take of at idle or rev at 1.5 to 2 rpm… Then I pop the clutch when the light turns green… I end up spinning tires all 3 gears
I’ve heard rumors that mostly everyone revs at 2 to 2.5 rpm and ride the clutch at take off… Is there anyone that can example that to me… Because isn’t riding the clutch really bad… isn’t also another name for burning the clutch…
Any helpful tips in running good times at the track…

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Some light clutch slipping is not a problem. To burn a clutch, you would have to slip it through most of first gear. Ideally, you want to let it grab enough to get good acceleration, but not so much that you just spin the tires. Typically, it will still be a rather shirt duration, especially with the G. The VQ has enough low-end torque that you will not need to keep the revs very high to get off the line quickly.

If you are spinning your tires in all three gears you are doing something terribly wrong, or you have way too much power or the traction is horrendous.

You honestly better get your driving skills up, spinning all 3 gears is not a good thing lol, just keep practicing it takes a while!!

Its very easy to spin to the top of third, I did it when I was practicing launching and felt like taking the car "excessively" off the line. If your spinning to third, you need to ease up there, come down to 2.8-3.2K depending on road surface and "feel" the clutch out. Ya dont get it the first time, it takes practice. If you see little puffs of white smoke though, your doing something wrong.

Thanks for the feedback guys... But yeah... My wheels are sliding all 3 gears... I can feel it going down the track... as for temp... it never goes below 85 degrees here in Hawaii... But yeah... I'm just going to try some different shifting and clutch styles... Because I sometimes don't even rev off the line and still spin... oh well...

Re: Style of Driving at Tracks

what's the elevation at the track in hawaii? I got a personal best of 14.877 at LACR and the elevation is like 3000 ft above sea level and that track is known to have real bad traction...as my 2.3XX 60 ft shows. Corrected, my times are somewhere around 14.4 or something. However with a correct burnout and better traction(possibly at a better track), getting 14.0-14.2 shouldn't be too hard for me.

learn to feather the clutch...that will help...equally apply gas with less clutch and you'll guide off of the line...good luck.

Not to sure what the elevation is here... As for feathering the clutch... too me... I think that would be kind of be hard to do especially when your adrenaline is high... Just waiting for the lights to turn... Plus... Isn't that still somewhat burning the clutch...

feathering doesn't burn and you'll need to learn how to control your emotions once up there...I learned how to NA and now I have to learn all over again with the SC.
