injector cleaning
I had my g35c in today for oil and filter.
Service writer called said injection could use a cleaning $129 or I could wait until 30K mile service (currently at 27K miles). Not sure what the 30K service costs - anyone else have to have injectors cleaned prior to 30K and if so how much $$.
Thx.

Re: injector cleaning
How would they do that? Engines are usually self-maintaining with that stuff. You could pay the $129 or pickup a $3 bottle of STP Fuel Injector cleaner. I know a BMW Master Mechanic (Yes that is a real title) who says it's a good idea to use a bottle of STP Fuel Injector Cleaner every time you get an oil change (every 3,750 miles) to keep the injectors clean.
But then again, I really don't know anything more than what I've stated so perhaps other members could shed some more light on the subject.

Re: injector cleaning
jiffy lube told me the same thing. i thought it was some BS, so i came here to ask first. no responses. =(
but 129 is too expensive. jiffy lube will do it for 30 bucks.

Re: injector cleaning
I heard that fi cleaner gets on your plugs and shortens their life. Also what exactly is involved in a $129 fi cleaning? Do they remove the injectors? Our injectors should stay clean for a long time since we use Super(91 + octane) right?

Re: injector cleaning
Thanks for the responses. I think the quality higher octane fuels should keep a car with 25K miles fairly clean as far as injectors go. I think for a hundred bucks there would be some manual cleaning, but I didn't ask - I told him to wait for now. My Grand Cherokee had a dead battery that needed dealing with - the one day my wife used it, as the G was already in the shop!
