oem front lip q.
when the front lip is installed, is the ground clearance significantly less? i heard they bolt it onto the the front bumper, but how much lower is it really? maybe an inch, or much lower? do u guys with the oem lip scrape any visible areas of it while parking or is it pretty much the same deal as without the lip? thanks.

Re: oem front lip q.
there is virtually NO dif between having the oem lip and not regarding ground clearance because the bottom of the lip seats right up to the bottom of the bumper...the only time you'll have problems is when you are entering steep driveways because now you have 1-2" extra of lip sticking straight out...

Interesting. Thanks Randy, I didnt know that. However, just how easy is it to install this thing? If I go straight out of my driveway now I scrape. If at an angle I'm okay. I think with an OEM lip it may scrape even more and possibly at an angle.
I'm mor ecurious about the install though and what i'd need and how long it takes to actually do. I dont plan on getting one for a few months but just wanted to know for my own knowledge.

pratik97,
The install is pretty straight forward. If you know how to hold a drill you should be fine. I recommend you have someone around to assist you with the install, as extra couples of hands are always good.
I'll try to give a brief description of the install:
1. Mark drilling points in the bumper per the template that's included with the lip.
2. Drill holes
3. Open underbody spoilers (plastics that cover the engine - requires the removal of some 7 plastic clips and removal of some 15 screws or so.
4. Put the lip on and tighten it from the inside out part of the bumper using washers and nuts.
5. Drill two holes (one in each side) in the wheel well side - into the bumper - use 2 screws to secure the lip in these two points.
5. Remove double-sided tape cover - front of the lip
6. Screw back all underbody screws and place back all plastic clips.
7. Drill 8 holes under the lip and plug in the supplied 8 clips into these holes.
That should be it, pretty much - really not a brain surgery, just requires patience.
Good luck.

Yes, I am all over the place, what can I say.. I have no life..
Last time I heard the price was unchanged: $299 + s&h
But go over to freshalloy.com (G35 sedan and coupe forum) and look up this month’s promotional code from Grubbs Infiniti - Should be 15% off.
Mine came out $295 or so including s&h after the promo code.

Yup ... it takes ~1hr or so... (Thanks Dan )
And that was chatting in between, ordering pizza, more chatting. Having a hydraulic jack really eases up the job a bit. Just drive carefully with it on, just like you'd normally drive the G anyways right?
I actually have the pictures of the DIY... just too lazy to put it together and up...

Re: oem front lip q.
No significant change when you install the lip. I should fit flash with the front bumper. It will lower the front by maybe 1/4 of an inch at the most. It will all make sense once you see it installed. Goodluck!

Re: oem front lip q.
That's a good question and could think of reasons for both yes and no. I would guestimate the little amount the lip protrudes should only slightly effect fitment. I would imagine, your best bet would be to install the bra (post lip install) on a very hot sunny day and let it stretch the material. If you live in a colder climate, try it indoors with a hairdryer (I wouldn't use a heat gun). I think you should be able to make it work

As others have mentioned, I don't think the lip makes the front any lower, so you should not encounter any rubbing problems that you do not already have!
While installing the lip, I noticed what does rub or hit driveways under the car. While under the car you will see a black air foil that sticks down about a half inch - it sits just behind the painted bumper and runs accross the bottom of the car. That is what is always hitting the ground or getting caught on parking stops. It's good to know it is not the painted bumper or spoiler.
Also note that installing the lip may take longer than some have stated here. It could take a few hours.
I really feel the OEM lip is the best looking one I have seen. It compliments the car perfectly - I wish they could have done as tasteful a design on the rear spoiler!
