Impossible to get better paint match?
Impossible to get better paint match?
Sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum, but I figured it would be seen by more people here. I have an 06 DG coupe and when I bought it, it had more than it's share of paint chips. I had it repainted, but it doesn't match (not well enough for me anyway) Most people say they can't really tell, but it drives me NUTS. It is even more blatant in pictures...see for yourself. I feel this can be matched better due to the numerous DG G's with aftermarket bumpers that look almost perfectly matched. Sorry for rambling...onto the pics

hard to tell from pics . On my monitor first pic looks very good . Second pic is hard to tell because theres a reflection on the bumper where it meets the fender . Bumpers are always a little bit off . Paint lays down different from metal to plastic .
that's a terrible paint match.
Most shops you to to will tell you that it's hard to match the color, that's why you got to go to shops that do allot of aftermarket body work. they got painters there that can really match it good for you.
I had my front bumper painted twice on IP, that's a 3 stage color, and both times it was matched perfectly.
just depends where you go.

yea its really hard to tell in pics ,it does look like the metallic settled to much if anthing . I do auto painting for a living . If your not happy with it take it back and tell them to blend it . They might charge you a little more but thats the only way to get a 100% perfect match .
Not hard to tell the match is bad at all, I'm on my iPhone viewing the forum in mobile mode which makes it impossible to even zoom in to see the pictures. Either I got some good eyesight or you guys need to upgrade some monitors.
That is a bad match, I don't know what your shop told you but 1 shade darker is comletely unacceptable. If anything tell them to quit fckin around trying to match it by color code and have them whip out a paint pallet booklet and get the job done right.

Any suggestions, anyone? Shopping around for painters is all well and good but if this happens again im going to lose it. Better yet...if anyone in the Chicago area has someone local they can recommend then i'm all for it.
trust me man, everytime i look at it i want to get rid of it cause i can't take it anymore. it may be minor in the eyes of some, but i feel like i may as well be driving a buick, because this bumper completely ruins the car to me.
oh...and the person who painted it is a friend of my brother out of a local paint shop. i do know for a fact that he painted the bumper off the car, and this was in may, so i don't even want to bother going back to him.
Looking at the pic, they did a very poor job matching the paint! Sadly the painter didn't take the time to match your paint, this wouldn't happen at a good body shop. Try to get them to do it right, a blind man could see this doesn't match....not even close! I wouldn't be happy with these results either....
