Re: shocked by the TL

Any 04 or 02-03 TLS will usually be pretty close to a G sedan or coupe auto to 50 or so, but the G should have the advantage down low. TL and TLS's really dont utilize that torque down low as the 3.5 powered cars of the Nissan family

03 350Z Auto 14.05@ 98.01 mph stock
03 Maxima SE Auto 14.62@ 94.35 mph stock
89 Maxima GXE 17.10@82.05 stock (bad weather car, ran it for the hell of it)

"but ugly if not kitted. buy an accord for gods sake, they look better."

Are you on crack!? Those new accords look like beavers from the front (*chomp* *chomp*); LOL! I just laugh every time I look at one; the old ones (coupes, at least) were so much nicer and, dare I say, "classier" looking (for a Hon-duh).

Re: shocked by the TL

What I ran a 2004 auto tl vs my auto g few weeks back and both of us in mm both of us break torque to 2000 and off the line I already had 1/2 car lead due to him being fwd I kept lead till about 60 or so then I slowly pulled him by 2cars at about 80-85mph. The auto TLS run 14.8-15.0 at 94mph while auto gs run 14.4-14.6 99mph so the g is the faster car

Re: shocked by the TL

i thought the tl and coupe were pretty close neck in neck when it comes to straightline performance and overall power (0-60: 6.3 vs. 5.9)? so, it shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Re: shocked by the TL

the new tl's are pretty quick. However, once you get into turns, that's when the TL fades back into your rear view mirror.

it was a stock tl, but he kept up with my through like 55 i'd say, but i dont really understand because it is such a big car. We were in the middle of the road and i topped out at 100......so no we werent in a nice situation to hit 120.

Re: shocked by the TL

I tested mine out yesterday in MM mode and I reached 66mph in second gear before I had to shift up so I think either you have to brake torque these cars off the line to get the performance out of it or you take it out of the AT mode and redline the sucker before shifting.
I know one member said that you get the same performance if you leave it in AT mode and floor it so maybe you just need to race it to its full extent...
Paul.
PS. Those TL's are quick though.
