bought a modded 2003 g35 coupe...

It was a really good price and my car had just got stolen so I couldn't pass it up. But it's been modded; BC coils and a trangso shift kit. I don't know much about any of that, but it doesn't ride like a luxury car should, I'm wondering if this is normal because of those mods? There is nothing wrong with the car besides the fuel gauge being temperamental, it just shifts really hard in automatic when I press hard on the gas peddle, which obviously I've stopped doing. But when I'm in manual, the shifts aren't bad. Also, I feel every bump on the road, almost like the car doesn't have shocks, or so my dad says. I know I should have learned more about this car before I spent 10k on it, but there's nothing I can do now and I just need some advice. Don't be a douche please.

if its on coilovers they are probably slammed with less shock travel.

The ride you are describing sounds consistent with the mods done to the car. From what I hear the shifts with the transgo can be "violent" if you get on it.

For the coilovers you can check on the dampening and set it to a softer setting so the ride isn't so stiff. You can also raise it a bit for a more comfortable ride, if its really slammed right now.

Did you test drive the car prior to purchasing it?

this is the only picture i have of it right now, i'm not home.
it is lowered a lot, which i don't mind. just wondering if that's why it rides like it does.

i did drive the car before but i never slammed on the gas to notice the hard shift. also, i brought it somewhere to see if it could be raised but they said the coilovers were as stretched as they could go. the guy told me he actually had it lower before he decided to sell it.

I would never take my car back to whoever told you that. Im sure you can raise it unless you are on springs and not coils and the guy lied to you

^+1, that guy has no clue what he's talking about. You can definitely raise your car from your current ride height on your BC coils.

Even on the stock springs, the ride quality is pretty harsh (with 18s or 19s).

So whatever you're feeling on the drop is most probably normal.

Take a wheel off and take a picture of the assembly so we can see that you are actually on coils. You may have been taken for a ride. As for the lights you may just need to put more brake fluid.

+1. sounds normal for having those mods. I have the transgo as well and it behaves the same. Under hard acceleration, it will shift instantly, throwing you back. Normal cruising shouldn't be much different than stock. That mod alone costs anywhere from $550-$1000 for parts and install. It's a good mod to have.

Not a fan of the tinted tails, but at least you've got the chargespeed rear.

if you feel your car is bouncy like a boat, your shock went out. lift up the car and take a picture of the shock.

When I get home, I'll post pictures of everything. But I know it has the coils, the people at the shop (where they told me it couldn't be raised) showed me, they're black and say BC...so yeah.

This is all really good to hear, for the most part. Thanks guys.

I can fix it for you just take them off and we can do a swap for my springs. Ill even send them so you have them in the mail so your car can be on the road. Hows that sound?

Well since you verified that they are coilovers, you can definately raise them more than that. Go find another shop or someone local that knows wtf they are doing.
