I brought my car to a shop and ask to replace my clutch/flywheel. The shop originally told me it will not cost more than $400 for the installation. I bought the JWT clutch/flywheel kit (see below). Now after seeing that they have to install the other lil gadets, they are telling me they are charging more specifically the clutch line and the fact they have to bleed it. (They still haven't given me the final total yet but how much should that even cost?) Is this realistic or am I another victim of being ripped off by a shop?

It definitely takes more labor to install the new clutch line and bleed it, but it shouldn't cost you another $200 in labor or anything like that.

Since they are already in there doing your clutch, it should take something like 30 minutes, maybe a little more, so multiply that by whatever their labor rate is.

 

i paid 450 for the clutch/flywheel install and another 75 for the clutch line install which i thought it was a little too much just to bleed the dawm thing

 

Thanks. I end up paying 475 for everything. I got a JWT clutch/flywheel and wow that thing is kinda hard to change gears. First time I tried to move the car I stalled. Is that normal? I really have to give it some gas to make sure I don't stall... (compared to stock)

 

475 is not a bad price for install, the flywheel will rev fast, but that means the rpms will fall faster. You will get used to it.

 

Kind of a stupid question but how much faster will it actually rev? I assume I am a bit faster off the line than oem flywheel?

BTW, getting use to the new setup already this moring. Just have to put a lil more force down on the clutch to stick and give it a tad bit of extra gas.

I can definitely feel the difference... now time for a car wash!
