Yes, they are harder to find 6mt, but if you keep your eyes peeled you might get lucky. I understand your preference for the coupe, I orginally wanted to get a coupe and the 35's lines are beyond sexy. After some time/knowledge gained my preference shifted. Although I prefer the second gen sedan, I have seen some really hot gen1's.

My friend has a 07 SI coupe and I can tell he is jealous when he see's my G. He paid around the same for his ride cause he bought it brand new and its much slower/not as nice. I say go nissan/infiniti. they are reliable cars too.

If you really want a sporty car then you need a coupe, the cost of insurance couldn't be that much different. Good Luck with your senior year, recalling mine you'll have a great time....be safe!

Completely agree. When i was 17, i drove a 1990 Buick Century. I also saw where you were only going to get liability insurance, why? You do realize if you wreck your car with liability you are stuck with the bill (insurance will not cover anything if it is your fault, or if the other person doesnt have insurance). My 1500 truck is liability, my G35 is full torte. Buy a reliable cheap car, drive it until you have finished college or have a nice paying stable job that you have worked at for a few years.

Buy a Honda.
Since you're in college, it's good to save some cash.

The G is not cheap to buy but expensive to maintain.
Premium gas, 18/25 mpg, as oppose to Civic's 30+ mpg
Insurance
Any normal maintainance will cost you way more than a Honda. (I.e. 4x set of new OEM tires will run you $1k). In general, any part that breaks will cost you probably twice as much on the Civic.

It's good to save up some cash for college.
As a rule of thumb, it's always good to be holding some extra cash in this economy...

Yh right now I have a Nissan pathfinder and it hasnt gave me any problems so I know the nissan/Infiniti will be a great car and I thought about the price to, why would I pay the same for a si when I can get a g35, it's just a HUGE mismatch

I'm not completely sure when I said I was only getting liability? And I'm definitely gonna have full coverage hands down

Don't listen to these old men, get a hot car and get the girls. you only live once, enjoy being young i say. I had a twin turbo 3000gt when i was your age and loved every minute of it. No regrets, and that car was unreliable and an even bigger gas guzzler.

As long as your really can afford it, I wanted a corvette so bad for a while but i had to slap myself back into reality. Really think about the cost of owning this car through how long u plan on keeping it.

The G isn't a Ferrari jeez.. Its a nice looking, fairly fast (not so fast that your not gonna be able to handle it coming from a slower car), and aside from a few minor quirks which can be kept in check. The only thing you need to worry about it oil consumption on the 06+ vq35de 6mts. If you do some reading on this site about it, you shouldn't have many headaches.

also, why does he need coupe? no trying to turn this into a vs thread but the g35 coupe isn't a sports car either so unless your HAVE to have that look, its kinda silly to have that bias. He was thinking about getting a honda si, so i don't think thats his #1 priority.

i bought my G when i was 17.. insurance aint too bad b/c i said my dads the primary driver

just buy an 03 G drive it around for a year or two and then sell it.

i'm gettin bored of my G and i'm in college. don't see the point of having one.. costs soo much to gas it up

make sure you don't buy the G35 stock. find one thats modded and make sure it was taken care of. modded cars sell for the same as stock cars generally so you can save a lot of cash like that.

stock Gs are so boring

im planning on sellin my G soon and just buyin an 08 GTR when i graduate or something and gettin a beater/ ninja 250r

^thats a lie, modded cars sell for LESS. When your average joe hears modded, what comes to mind is A) it has had the crap ran outta it... or B) it is some rice garbage.

only time I see a G that looks boring is when its Serengeti Sand...

and your going from a 05g to a GTR... pfffff.....

lol don't hate on my SS G. IMO it's the best color out there.. i could careless what you think. I like to be different.

an 08 GTR when I graduate in 4 years will be significantly cheaper and since I'll have a job i'll be able to afford it.

and yeah thanks for reiterating my point.. buying a pre-modded car is smarter than buying a stock car.

im thinking about getting a 2005 since it's a newer car-lower mileage-and 18 more HP, and i'll probably have it till the end of college unless i just have enough money to get a bugatti hahahaha....... Also i am not gonna buy one that's turbocharged and has had the dog squeeze ran out of it, i would rather buy one with just a intake and exhaust, nothing too much. And i would rather have a stock car over a modded one, sorry but thats just me.

I agree 110% with you, i would definitely assume that the car has had the **** ran out of it if it had a ton of aftermarket parts on it, and i just dont need a twin turbocharged g haha, i just want a nice sporty car for me to enjoy my last year of high school in, i want it to be a year to remember and alot of memories. As gay as that may sound, i just want to own a nicer car.

just sayin.. i was in the same mindset as you.. bought my car fully loaded but stock at the beg of my senior year.

then slowly i wanted rims, tints, exhaust, intake, coilovers, body kits, headlights etc

it gets expensive when you start from scratch. if your car already has these mods you can easily trade them or sell them or keep em.

and i thought i wanted to keep it throughout college too but now i'm rethinking.

if i had to start over I woulda bought an 03 stick that was modded.

and i think the 03-04 Gs have more torque to balance out the lower HP so they go just as fast.. not sure tho
