Tranny Fluid
Tranny Fluid
I just did my tranny flash at firestone (cousin works there). and they used versatrans trans fluid. now im hearing from other G guys that anything other than the Nissan one will mes it up... Is this true?
Did you really get a "Tranny Flush" or a drain and fill? There's a sticker under your hood that recommends not using anything but Nissan J fluid but they've recently switched to Nissan's S fluid. I'd be concerned using anything in my G that Firestone sells....

That's what I'm switching to on a next flush.........Nissan fluid is just too damn expensive.

What what what? Amsoil ATF is 10.50 per quart if you buy it from their site. You can find Matic-S for 7-9 bucks
money is not the option when you own a vechile such as the G35... What ever the manufacture states as fluid wise or anything should meet nissan specs... i would not use anything other then that... also there is a difference when they flush my trans at the dealership they only flush 6 qts.. the whole trans i believe holds about 14 qts but you will never be able to drain all of that unless the torque converter is removed that is speaking with AT transmissions...
i just recently switched to royal purple Max ATF fluid, been almost 2 months and i like it so far>>> http://www.royalpurple.com/transmission-fluid.html
first trans and diff fluid change
Am gonna flush and fill with amsoil atf in my 06 coupe with 32,000 miles, will let ya know what I think. Have heard good things, but have also heard many say to stick with nissan s-matic.. Due for the 30,000 mile service, but today I am getting the diff drained and filled, and belts changed, oil and filter changed, along with the trans getting flushed and filled. Besides the air filter, what else am I supposed to have done? I know this is an old thread, just didn't want to start a new one. Will also use the search when I am done with this. Just like to a more recent opinion or experience to use as reference. Thanks
Is belts really necessary at this low of a mileage? Are they showing signs of aging or any squeals? You should get a new cabin filter since they show aging very quick and can lead to stinky odor in the cabin. I personally would stick to Nissan fluid especially if you want to keep your powertrain warranty intact if you have any left. Check your brake pads to see how much life is left on them and inspect compression rod bushing for wear.
