the thread we all dread

I was really hoping I would never have to make this thread, but here it is. This could have been a lot worse and thankfully I'm totally fine!! But here's what a stupid deer did to my car:

I was doing about 60, saw a deer facing the road while standing near the road. I slammed on the brakes, he darted, so I immediately swerved left (was in the right lane) to try to get in front of his path and miss him. No luck... he was going too fast.

The ironic thing is that the passenger seatbelt had been OUT of that holder thing for probably 2 months, and I decided to put it back in about an hour before this accident happened. The seatbelt tightened and ripped it off.

Also, it seems like the metal part of the buckle did this:

Just got off the phone with State Farm. $9292.11 is the total (so far). They told me that a few things (radiator, headlamps, and some AC component) qualified for "Quality Refurbished parts" or something like that. They say they give a warranty with those parts, but I'm still a little skeptical. You guys have any insight into that?

Also, any tips on how I could stand to benefit from this? I am sorta considering after-market bumper, but not sure. It would be the Nismo one if I did go with a different one.

Thanks guys

they only way you benefit from it is if you tell state farm Fvck your used components.......I need new ones.

You get paid $$$$$$$$ for new ones and go to a friends or friends of a friends shop and get discount on work and get your self some discount parts (aka used).

Yea get OEM, I'm tired of state farm being douche bags, they always try and pull **** like that.

Sucks that it happened but you'll get it worked out, could have been a lot worse!

I have the same: Black dash and steering wheel with greyish seats, comes oem.

OP, sucks to see what happen. Since the bags deployed I think the car is now a salvage. Correct me if I am wrong though?!? Just make the best out of...GL!

Wow, 9K for that? Seems a tad high....and only one bag deployed. I don't think they're gonna write that thing off. Since it's less than 7 years old, State farm will allow repairs up to 100% of the cars value before they'll write it off. I'm gonna guess they'll fix it. I just did this to my Altima....
This was a write off but it was an 02 and both front bags deployed. Pretty sure they told me damages exceeded 8K so they buried her..
