Do you think this would be a compatible swap....I dont see why it wouldn't....it seems that all the controls line up the same way, and so forth.....
i would love to have mp3 in my car...
and if so..do u think that if people had to get their headunit replaced in the future, infiniti would replace it with the new 2005 one?

same here.. im dieing to get my hands on one of those mp3 players.. thats all i had in my last ride.. 1 disc is all i needed for my mp3s....

bump.. i see no reason why we cant replace it with the 2005.. im sure infiniti already thought about it.. just anohter way to make money and at the same time , a happy customer.

 

i want the whole center console... haha including the 7" motorized navi..

i think you have to swap everything out as the power button is now located where the volume button is at.

location of power button is no worry to me.. 04 location for power can be wired to the new HU if the components still match up..

whats important is that all wires are still the same , but just located else where.. what the ultimate question is.. does the 04 HU still have the same interface as the 04 HU in terms of poewring up everything and sending out signals to the speakers /amps

Good question. I guess we have to wait until someone gets an 05 and starts tearing into the new HU. I really want the MP3 feature too but I can't stand the look of what I think are the volume and temp controls sticking out of the console. I like the flush look of the 04's and older. Just my taste.

 

I hope Infiniti will create a retrofit kit to put an '05 stereo into the 03-04 dashes. I would actually prefer a twist dial for volume. Up/down is lame!

Yeah, MP3 is even being offered by....BUICK! Goes to show that even old folks are burning CD's nowadays instead of using cassette tapes. I think it's been at least 7 years since I last touched one of those things.

Umm... Are there actually any brand of car dealerships that has options upgrading old model's headunit into the newer models headunit?? Because i've never heard of that before from any car dealership especially infiniti. So i highly doubt it. The only way i can see this happening is if u get your hands on the 05 headunit and try to do it yourself.

 

If u think about it, infiniti wouldn't even put the stock navigation on a G if it didn't come with it as a option when u bought it. So i dont see why they would actually put a new model's Headunit into a older model, especially if theres compatibility issues.
