I did clean the MAF and throttlebody and now the RPM at idle is a bit higher. At first, I thought it would drop down as it tends to (since it is cold here). It basically stayed at 1k RPM the entire 30 minutes. This morning driving, I do not notice anything strange but the RPM did drop back to about 600k at idle, but the sound is still there... like its sputtering... and bout to shut off...

I will try again next week with the full process... but does anyone know if there is any belts that cause this? I replaced my clutch a few weeks ago and they mentioned i needed new belts (but did not specify)... and stupid me did not even think to ask what belts!!!

anybody check for a vacuum leak...that can also cause a low/rough idle...sometimes ppl take things off to clean or replace and forget to hook up a small hose.....

I would complete the whole reset process. Once all active learning is reset see if the ecu throws you a code.

I doubt the belts would cause this stutter.

I would not focus on the intake manifold anymore if the idle is good.

I would be paying more attention to the spark plugs, fuel filter, igniter module, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil .... those types of things.

how much mileage does your g have? for the cluth to be replaced must be high ...

I replaced the clutch at 65k miles. I can tell it was going out soon.

I will have to look into other options out there either.

Not being the best mechanic (most of the knowledge learned from here and my previous car on maxima.org), I will try to look into the things I can do myself such as changing spark plugs, evaluating the hoses for leaks.

To me, the car sounds pretty loud at idle... engine making a decent amount of "noise" like if something is spinning in there. It's not the same noise as if it was a new car... so im trying to see if there is a relationship with the belts, motor, noise to my idle that is low.

Thanks all for the inputs. Will replace a few more things this weekend and do some checkup work to see if I can solve this issue.

Has anyone found exact issues as to why our cars idle so low?

I just changed my oil, cleaned MAF sensor, and TB.

Car seems to start a lot better. Before, it would barely start up as if the battery were dead.
The idle seemed to be better when i first started it, but has since been at 200rpm idle.

Well im not sure when this started, but I do live in AZ and it has gotten pretty cold as of the past month.
its between about 55 during the day and 35 at night..

The car does still idle around 200-250rpm cold or not..

I just had my battery checked and it was bad.Replaced it and car starts up just fine, but still idles at 200+

Any other suggestions? I'm trying to get this figured out because it scares me seeing it at 200rpm

car is at 88,500miles

250 rpm's is like unreal low lol. you might need to go look at your tach again because it does apear to be 250 but its probably around 500 due to the fact that the 0-1000 rpm is staggerd non equally threw the rpms range. my car has 100k miles and its been doing it since i got it at 60k and i beat on it really good. never had a problem and still makes good power.

500 is the normal idle.
With AC on the idle is 900.
