Trade my 03 5AT for deal on 04 6MT, Should I ?
Trade my 03 5AT for deal on 04 6MT, Should I ?
Need help with a decision. I have a 03.5 coupe 5AT with premium and aero package. I really wanted the 6MT back when I bought it last year, but the wife cant drive a manual and NOW decides she would like to learn. Well, I would love to have a 6MT with V-LSD, but is it worth trading in for while there are deals on 04's. OR is it just a big waste of money. Does anybody know about how much I can get for trade in for mine towards a new one? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. By the way the 03 is financed for 60 months and so would the new one.
I am thinking that they would take mine and say here's a new one with same payments but forget that you just paid for a year's worths of payments and start all over again for another 60 months. Hmmmmm......

Let's see... you'd be paying taxes TWICE, taking the initial depreciation hit, losing money due to trading in an '03 instead of selling it outright... I'd say you'd end up losing about $6,000-$10,000.
Maybe it's time to just be happy with what you have... Just a thought.
What? You think that John Kerry is not consistent?

I agree, you might take a big hit. You probably owe more than the car is worth, b/c of the initial depreciation. Depends on how much you put down, and how much you financed. Plus, since you're early in the finance period, a lot of your payments have been going to interest, not all to principal. It takes a while to get to the break-even point (i.e. car is worth what you owe on it). Even if you had a big down payment, bringing you to break-even faster, you basically lose your down payment once you sell, and you'll have to come up with another. Of course, all this is not applicable if your car in fact held most of its value, which I doubt.

Re: Trade my 03 5AT for deal on 04 6MT, Should I ?
I forgot about all the taxes, they do get you there. I guess the only reason I was thinking about it is because I read somewhere that the G35 coupe is in the top ten of best resale value/book value. If you get on kelly blue book, they say that my car's trade in value is 30K and book value is even more.
Your right though, quit having buyers remorse and enjoy the crap out of it. I guess I could spend all the money that I would have lost and bult this one up to a vette killer.
