Hey all... i know a lot of people have V1s and Escorts.
Just wondering if you guys have the X-Band off?

I live in California and wonder if i'll be ok having X-Band completely turned off. I know that X-band is for a lot of older/smaller detecting devices.

So Regular? Low? Off?

I live in Connecticut and have the X-band turned off on my Escort Passport 8500. I haven't had any problems thus far (2 years running) and it makes the use of a radar detector much more pleasant without it CONSTANTLY beeping... kind of like the boy who cried wolf. Now when it goes off, about 70% of the time it's the real deal. I strongly suggest it... but I am sure I'll be flamed for this.

Drive around your area. See what happens. Give it about six months. If your X band gives you nothing but false alarms, turn it off. But if you see a cop once in a while using X-band, then you have to make a choice.

I have the V1. I have it set to the highest filtration mode while still allowing X-band. 90% of the time it will be false alarms from automatic doors and what not. But that other 10% is a cop in Northern NJ. How often do I run into that 10%? At least twice a week.

the top three models are the Bel 985/995, Escort 8500, and V1..

Also, I have encountered cops using x-band, so I would leave it on... these are mainly city cops though.. highway patrols generall use k and ka band

 

how do i turn off xband on the valentine1?
