Ok i know what u guys are all thinking when you first read this topic. And no im not one of the ignorant G drivers that think i have a chance with a m3 or a 2005 evo mr. I kno how fast a Evo Mr is, my friends just bought one and i sat in his car and that car is just amazingly fast. What i am wondering however is if I would have any chance at all if i was to race my friend at the top end of both our car's power. I have a g35c thats pretty much stock except for the grounding wires and a Nismo Cai. His Evo Mr who he just bought is completely stock right now. And i think the question im asking is very reasonable because if u look at the October issue of Motor Trend the Evo Mr's acceleration isn't really that fast after 80mph. Its actually surprisingly similiar to the G. Do you guys think i would have a chance with the Evo Mr if i was to race it say from a 80mph roll?? Because right now both me and my friend knows that his evo is alot faster, but to be able to beat him in anyway would prove that all is not lost for our G. Please feel free to give your thoughts. Thank You.

My friend is also a pretty good driver, And im not that bad myself either. So what i want to know basically is if given equal drivers, which car u think will come out on top from a 80mph roll??

 

According to what motor trend says about the Evo Mr. Heres another fact about both cars. The time it takes both cars to accelerate from 90mph - 100mph are identical. Both cars needs exactly 2.4 seconds to accelerate 90-100. So the Evo Mr really isn't that tough at high speed.

 

Thats an interesting stat but i dont think anyone here is going to tell you the exact result so i think you should just try it and see.

if you look on car-stats.com the previous gen evo took 28.5 to accelerate to 130, the g take 26.6.... those cars 1/4 mile times being so low have a lot to do with 1.6-1.8 60 ft times. With my car the way it is i bet i hang with one from a roll.... my boy has a convertible m3 until about 115 i have him by a nose... am i an ignorant g driver, no, i just know what im doing, race him and see what happens, hopefully youll g will surprise you and if not... oh well, ur "suposed" to lose to that...

i played with an EVO MR last week after work in almost this exact situation. open five lane highway, i come up behind an EVO MR. we were probably going about 70 mph when he dropped it down a couple gears (too many i think, because i heard a pop like sound and smelled gas or something). i have a 5AT and punched it. he steadily pulled away up to about 110 when i backed off. we did this a couple of times and i hung a bit better in MM mode, but his car was still clearly faster through those speeds. his plates read "MAX PSI" so its possible that he had mods, maybe even likely.

 

The MR is fast. Just race and see! You might do better than
you think!

Just wait until he puts very little mods....boost controller, ecu reflash, and exhaust and say byebye! I think the main advantage is that the Evo MR is lighter with a more efficient turbo but the weight is what is great about it.

i don't understand why people in general keeps asking if one could beat another car, especially if your friend has one. just race it mang!!! i can understand if it's a stranger and you want to spare your ego. just my honest opinion. not trying to bash or anything.
in any case..a friend of mine got one too. it's definitely a ricer car and the inside is pretty plain. it sure is fast tho. but for $38K, i would get a g35c anyday.

 

why do people keep saying RICE to any car just like the evo or sti???

these cars are not rice .. do you know what rice really is..

rice is a gang load of stickers all over the car.. fart can.. poorly done tints, big old metal 2 pc metal wing.. crap body kit, POS rims... all that combined on a honda civic or a integra driving like they own the road...hell it doesnt even have to be a honda or acura..

any car driving like that is just rice to me atleast..

i certianly do no think the MR or the STI is rice.. these cars to me scream racer boy.. not ricer boy.


now back on topic..

the MR is designed more toards all out performance that comfort in any way.. its stripped.. attached with lightweigh body parts, and i dunno what else..

i think the MR is marketed towards tho who already strip their cars and take it to the track or simply those who just want all out performance with no luxury..

I called my buddy with a 03 EVO not an MR but still an evo and messed with him today from a roll in 1st and a roll in 2nd, no lights, no top end rolls but each race i wakled him HARD at about 80 mph, soon as he goes into 4th gear im pullin pretty hard by him. With the 6 speed and 20 extra hp i still feel ill beat an MR. Bring it on........ fyi i have raced numerous g35c and not one has been close to me?!?! i dont get it, i have minor mods but my car seems to haul ***. I do resets on my computer every two weeks, i think that has a lot to do with it..... If no one here believes me were gonna do it again on video in a few days, ill figure out how to post it and get it to you guys.

Chuck post videos, i flat out dont believe it! Well maybe an Evo, but Evo MR will eat you up! Im modded, but not a manual so you have a huge advantage over me and being modded so you know what, i kind of might believe this! I was ahead of this kids Sti with him and another person till about 85-90 then he pulled like i was standing still, he ha d exhaust, boost controller and CAI and didnt launch though LOL!

Its really possible that a g35c can take or atleast be able to hang with a evo from a roll. Although the MR is slightly faster but its still a evo. Ck out this video of a m3 vs evo and look how badly the m3 just walked the evo after the initial acceleration. After watching this video i think the g35c definitely has a chance against the evo from a 70-80 mph roll.
