So I've owned my 2005 G35 Coupe 5AT with 70k miles for three days, driven it ~100 miles, and two problems have arisen.

First, today, after not driving it for ~30 hours, the tire pressure light came on and stayed on. I read the manual and it seems like the tire pressure is supposed to be at ~28 psi for cold weather on the 19" Aero package tires. With my (admittedly cheap) tire pressure gauge I read ~35 on all 4 tires. So wtf?

Second, when costing down a slight decline at ~30mph, there is sometimes a ringing sound from the rear left of the car. Any ideas?

Before I bought it I took it to a trusted garage and had a very thorough pre-purchase inspection they OKayed it, so this is a pretty sucky situation.

I know I'm a noob but I've been lurking for a few weeks so please go easy on me!

 

Congrats on your purchase but your G sounds better than mine lol. I had my door lock die during the 2nd week of owning it.

The G has a bunch of rattle so I wouldn't worry too much about the rear noise. Could be the brakes.

About the TPMS, buy a proper gauge and check pressure. Take some air out and refill it. That's what I did and my TPMS light went off. I tried this before having to spend money on new sensors lol.

 

Cold weather always affects my tpms! Very normal just wait for a warm day!

 

thanks but the ringing actually got pretty loud at one point. application of breaks or gas makes it go away

Sounds like a locked caliper, or maybe you need new breaks/rotors

 

The pre-purchase inspection I got told me brakes were new-ish. The sound only happens when no break or gas applied.

 

^ Take it to the garage that gave it the "ok". THe rattles or rings could be anything. We can't do an over the net inspection. The G has rattles from all over. Sun roof, rear seats, dash, exhaust pipes, etc etc. It could be anything.

It could even be your keys or any loose change in the ash trays.

BUT I never heard of a "ringing issues". Could be tinnitus.

 

I understand thanks dude. It definitely is something wheel-related was just wondering if it was a common thing.

 

Maybe what you are hearing is a bad bearing?


Lol... I cracked my exhaust pipe on xmas.

 

does the ring go away after you drive it a while. cause my does it when i begin to drive the car.. its go away after a good drive.. and probably cause its cold out..

tpms does come on if it snow and cold out.. if anything just put some air in them . ...

Did you buy it from a private seller ? or from a dealer ?

Did you test drive it long enough to hear anything ?

I would definitely take it back to the inspection place.

 

From a dealer. Drove it ~10 miles. The inspection place took the wheels off and checked everything, they would have noticed anything serious. Its just annoying!

 

Just take back to the dealer you might need a reset if they put new tires on it. As far as the 19" goes the actually psi should be 35.

 

I had TPMS come on during really cold weather. Sometimes it would turn off after I just kept driving for about 5-10 minutes.
