ztube question

the sedan section didnt bring clear answers so im asking here now lol
i have heard mixed reviews and yet to conclude it before i proceed to anything.

i heard battery needs to be disconnected to install ztube to avoid CEL.
but at the same time i heard it doesnt need to be unplugged because it is generally the same thing. (this seems correct to me)

so any input is greatly appreciated.

While installing the z tube the battery does not need to be unplugged.
But, you might want to unplug it to do an ECU reset. There are two ways to do this: the brake pumping trick or unplugging the negative from the battery. But if you don't plan on resetting your ECU no need to disconnect the battery.

The battery does not have to be disconnected but when working on the car it is recommended. Besides, it only takes 2 seconds.

x3 on not disconnecting it. Also it didnt throw a CEL for me. its not really a power adder so I didnt think it would do much resetting the ecu

I would not disco the battery but I would recommend doing an ECU reset using the gas pedal. I know the tubes are supposed to be the same but it made a difference for me.

Coupe pilots are measurably smarter than those four door sedan dudes. (there are a few exceptions like Marcus) When installing the Z-Tube you don't need to disconnect the negative side of your battery. It's also not a good idea to leave it disconnected for any length of time since your ECU will forget why it was installed in your G. Any thing more than a few hours and you'll be doing a SEARCH for the low idle reset....G/L

so i made my decision, i will not unplug the battery, i do not plan to do an ecu reset, unless i notice anything different. but all in all, it should be the same

With just a z-tube you will not see a huge change with or without the ecu reset most people would recommend it but you dont have to do it. I dont know how you can get a cel from this how stupid can you be to do something so wrong it throws the cel. But like most of these people said no need for anything I did it to mine I changed the ztube and afe filter just thought it would be a good idea to do it. It only takes 10-20 mins max to install the ztube. Good luck with the install
