2004 for 2005??

I have only had my 04 Brilliant Silver AT for about 4 months. I was considering trading it in for an 05 AT. My car has everything but navi with 5000 miles on it. It is paid for already. About how much would i have to pay for the difference if I traded it in with pretty much the same options?

Too much to make it worth it.

I am considering the exact same thing with my 04 Coupe with 7 Thou on it for an 05 with the same equipment Plus Nav. The dealers love used cars because they make more of a profit on them then new. In addition, the newer Coupes are finally being discounted since the market is pretty much saturated with them. I also would make the plunge if the hit was not as high as 7 or 8 Thousand. I'll stop at a few dealers and check it out.

Why don't you ask the dealer and see how much they are willing to get it for. If it's not worth trading it in then sell it in private. Goodluck!

What do you not like about your 04's 5AT? Interior?

Is it worth spending close to $7 or more for the change?

The reason I would not sell my car privately is because I would lose the 6% allowance on the sales tax which equates to big dollars on a late car. As far as what I like about the 05's interior is.... the materials they use on the console are not that hard cheap plastic.... the brushed aluminum trim is a plus.... but the major reason for the trade would be to get NAV..... If the hit is not more than 5 Thousand I would consider it. I'll shop and see. The only thing I would be missing is the Graphite on the Ivory Pearl which they no longer offer. I'll would have to settle for the Stone.

after having it for only 4 months, you're gonna take a loss and quite a loss as a matter a fact. but if it's that important to you and you have the cash to spend, why not?!?!?!? i'm doing the same too but i've had my coupe for almost 2 yrs now: )~

If the loss is silly......(7-8 Thou) for an 04 to 05 exchange... I will sit still and enjoy my G for what enjoyment it gives me presently.I have owned my 04 for over one year so I have gotten some use out of it compared to the owner who has their car 4 months. I'm not concerned with shelling out extra bucks for a nicer car at this point in my life. As they say... "you can't take it with you"

Re: 2004 for 2005??

I am ordering a 2005 even though I could easily pick up a 2004 at a great price. That said, if i owned an 2003 or 2004, there is no way i would trade it in for a 2005, its just not worth it, the differences are not great enough to do that.

Re: 2004 for 2005??

Nothings wrong with my car I was just wondering how much more it would be. My parents bought it for me but if I were to trade it in I would be paying the difference. Would it be a better idea just to wait a couple of years, like 06, and then trade it in? Are they even making them in 06?

Re: 2004 for 2005??

The G35, like some cars, will only offer more improvements for the years to come... so each year you might want the next year up, sometimes its good to just wait for the next generation...

You've got a great car, and if you think its worth going the extra mile and trading it in, by all means go for it. But financially speaking, its not the best idea... just think, the 05 has what 298 hp, right? 06 will, lets pretend, offer 305 horsepower from some ECU upgrade and some minor interior changes, or color options, etc...

I'm getting an 05 G35 just because well... i wont have a good downpayment for another few months... now i havent owned one before, but i KNOW in 06 they will offer something just a tad different, and it will make me want want want... it's just a fact, every year everything gets better.... we need to try and be happy with what we have, esp if we cant afford something like that...

so enjoy your current generation and see what they put out in a few years... theres nothing wrong or outdated about your car... except for the 19s, the new suspension, the nicer interior, and the, ahem sorry ill shutup now confused?
Edited by Boost_Addict on 10/30/04 11:42 PM.
