Accord vs. G35
Accord vs. G35
I bought a 2004 Accord EX-V6 coupe back in april. Its an okay car, but i'm getting a G35 as soon as I can. The G35 is the best looking coupe out there. I like the 350Z, but the G35 is more luxury to me. Hopefully i get the G35 in a few months, and Im gonna be up here posting with all you G35 drivers.

Right On! I think you will like the way it drives every bit as much as you like the way it looks.

Don't get premium sound, then upgrade your front speakers and rear window speakers and power them with a decent amp mounted to the back of the rear seat. I bought Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5s front (think they call them Pro 60s now) and SL95s for the back. Disconnect the rear sidepanel speakers--I powered them (along with a 10" sub) with an Eclipse 3532 amp. If you want to just do one thing, put BA Pro components in the front (or other premium components) and power them adequately, and you're set. Makes a huge difference. Other G35 owners sit in my car and their eyes pop at the sound clarity.

As I said, the premium package isn't worth the money--buy the non-premium and invest the savings in new front components, especially the tweeters, powered by a decent amp. You don't have to get Boston Acoustics speakers, but almost any components will out-perform the Bose setup--before I changed I had to max out the treble to get anything approaching decent sound. Stick any of the portable subs in the trunk and you'll be in good shape for the price of the premium setup. At the very least, see what you'll save by not getting the premium sound system, then take that $$ figure to a local installer and see what they'll do.
Re: Accord vs. G35
I traded a '97 I30t a couple of months ago for a G35c without premium. The I30 had an upgraded Bose. May not be a truly fair comparison, but I can't really tell any real difference in sound quality with the base sound on the g35. One thing though, the reception for weaker stations is not that great on the g. There are a few weaker stations that I used to receive well that are marginal now. Anyone know a way of improving the FM reception strength? Other than that, I don't know if the premium sound is all that much better.
Re: Accord vs. G35
the premium sound system in my opinion is not that great. at low volume its pretty good, but when you turn it up, it gets distorted and the bass is kinda flat. and the minute you get your black coupe, go get it clear bra'ed. i have a black coupe, and my front end looks grey now, from all the chips.
Re: Accord vs. G35
Yeah, that does make more sense to not get the premium package and just get some aftermarket components. Not getting the premium package saves $2450 and I really only want the sunroof and possibly the Bose. But I could get the sunroof along with the aero package and do the sound system aftermarket and probably only spend a couple hundred. Would the stock headunit be sufficient? Or would it be recommended to replace that?
