Yes, when you lose traction, the "Slip" light should blink until the computer has everything back under control again. Of course, this is assuming you haven't turned the VDC off.
It can be hard to see since it blinks (instead of a steady light), and it only does that when at least one wheel is spinning or sliding.
I don't see it most of the time because I'm looking somewhere else when the light is blinking.

By the time you realize you have wheel slippage and glance down, chances are that the lights have stopped blinking and in transition to giving you back some power.
