Just so you know... the number of pistons a car has and the fact that they are configured in a V, Inline or boxer configuration makes no difference in the octane requirement. The main factor for the fuel octane recommendation is the compression ratio of the motor and whether or not it is using forced induction to increase that ratio during operational situations.

chevron. always use what the manual says, which is premium, i avg about 22-23 mpg and i drive 700 miles a week 90% hwy. and yes im going to complain about the gas mileage cuz when i bought the car i drove like 75 miles a week, then i moved, so now its time to move on to a new car

True, but then different proprietary additives are added after that...or not.
MPG topic:
city/hwy/spirited
30%/65%/5%
~20-22mpg

I drive with a heavy foot. Mostly highway and I average 21mpg. Not to terrible.
+1. The car is just to much fun to worry about MPG. If you want a car with good fuel economy, then get a something else. This is the same reason I don't worry about tire consumption. There are pleny of 1.6l cars out there than do 40mpg. Or a Diesel...
BTW: N/e is the same amount of keystrokes as to just type Any. No offence. Just an observation as I was reading your post.

It just depends on how you drive i drive decent monday-friday weekends i haul *** sometimes. When i am on the FWY ,i ususally drive 70mph on 6th gear and get 34 to 35mpg no lie on stillen exhaust, intake and ground kit i'lll post a pick from my navigation system,Remember not all have the same driving styles. On the streets is were i hurt abit with 23mpg..If you have a heavy foot take those weights off and drive less hard,Put 91octane as well cause if you add cheap gas it may cause a pre-eruption of the piston rings and you will need a new engine,That was said from my friend who is a tech at Nissan infiniti as well.Follow those recommendations for gas.

91+ octane is required since anything lower will cause engine knocking and misfire. So if you dont have 91 in your area, then 93 is the only thing you can use. Using 89 in order to save a few cent isn't worth it.
I get around 14-16MPG city driving. And i get around 18-20 highway driving at mostly 80 MPH. My MPG seems low because I got 9.5" front rims and 10.5" rear rims. And the tires are 245 fronts and 275 rears. So they are bigger compare to stock, they will stick to the road more => drop in MPG. Performance parts will also decrease MPG.

It's all compression... higher octane makes your gas more stable at higher pressures. Use 91 minimum. The engineers aren't stupid. They don’t put that on there for fun. Any higher grade will give you no benefits unless you are adding extra compression. It would be a waste of moneys.

Sorry If this isnt the best place to post this but I searched and couldnt find an answer.
Here is my question. About six months ago I finally put a Z-tube and JWT intake on my 05 Sedan. The first few weeks my MPG went up to 24.3. I took it in to the dealer for its 100K work and since then my MPG has steadily gone down. I am not at 18.7. I reset the ECU about a month ago and the power is back but and I expected my MPG to go down a little but was hoping I would rebound a little to where I was. Could the Dealership do a little something to screw up my MPG since they boldly told me they didnt like the fact I changed the intake? BTW I now take my G to a different dealer... Thanks for any advice in advanced.
