The piece on top of the Radiator, what is that thing? also what does it do? is it necessary to have it? I AM CONFUSED.. here is pics, the first one is from a stock g35 i found online, the last 2 is pics of my engine

 

it directs air to the stock air filter housing....since you no longer have the stock air filter housing it would be pointless IMO

 

Still serves a purpose, but you bought the car already modified no?

 

yeah i bought the car with that intake. the car was all stock except for that..

 

if you had the heat shield that is supposed to come with the pop charger then that middle piece directs air into the filter but since the heat shield is missing then the piece is useless

 

what is that middle air duct called?

Yeah I removed mine even before installing my typhoon cai.

 

yea you dont need that front duct..

 

but its ok. air is still seeping thru there is jus all scattered air.

 

its part of the intake system to help direct air to the filter. Dont believe it has a name... the opening in front of the actual filter on the drivers side is called a "power duct" it has a sticker on it...

 

^middle and driver side are 2 different things buddy

7. Air duct (inlet)

 

How much does this modification help? There is no air funnel like the stock version. It seems easy enough.

 

jus stalk the market place. u should be able to find one used
