Re: excessive oil consumption

My engine failed at 9,500. Eventually, I was told it was the rings on the left side. The engine has been replaced. I went through a ton of BS with Infiniti. I was definately deprived of my new car experience. I'll never buy another Nissan product again. Poor quality and poor service on an expensive luxjury car is inexcusable. In my view a TSB should be posted on the oil consumption problem. I speculate that a TSB would cause people to monitor their oil consumption closely and Nissan may have to replace many more engines.

Re: excessive oil consumption

i am just starting the process with the dealer out here. so far they have been reasonable, but it is very early. what kind of bs did you encounter? once they determined that the rings were bad, (i assume by a compression test??) did they still give you a hard time? how so?

thanks for any info....i would appreciate any help i could get in dealing with the situation

though i am not optimistic....this problem also didn't become apparent until 17k miles or so..

So it didn't burn any oil before this?

I'm wondering because my car has 13k on it, and it has never burned any oil thus far. I figured I'm out of the woods, but maybe not.

Re: excessive oil consumption

I maintained a break in period of 4000 miles keeping the RPMs under 4000. I have at times gone through a quart every 1100 miles.
