My engine failed at 9,500. Eventually, I was told it was the rings on the left side. The engine has been replaced. I went through a ton of BS with Infiniti. I was definately deprived of my new car experience. I'll never buy another Nissan product again. Poor quality and poor service on an expensive luxjury car is inexcusable. In my view a TSB should be posted on the oil consumption problem. I speculate that a TSB would cause people to monitor their oil consumption closely and Nissan may have to replace many more engines.

i am just starting the process with the dealer out here. so far they have been reasonable, but it is very early. what kind of bs did you encounter? once they determined that the rings were bad, (i assume by a compression test??) did they still give you a hard time? how so?

thanks for any info....i would appreciate any help i could get in dealing with the situation

So it didn't burn any oil before this?

I'm wondering because my car has 13k on it, and it has never burned any oil thus far. I figured I'm out of the woods, but maybe not.

2003 G35C, 6MT, DG/G, Aero/Nav/Premium

just heard from the dealer...they claim it was the pcv....we shall see if that fixes the problem..

I maintained a break in period of 4000 miles keeping the RPMs under 4000. I have at times gone through a quart every 1100 miles.
