Low tire pressure light
Why is my low tire pressure light aways on now? Before I would have to drive for like 30 min. before it came on but yesterday it came on right away and there was a warning beep. So I checked the pressure on all of my tires and they seem fine.
Thanks

Re: Low tire pressure light
what was the exact pressure you saw when you measured it?
Usually if it goes off after like 30 minutes and there's no noise, that means that the car isn't getting any sort of reading off of the tire pressure sensor. This often happens with aftermarket rims, etc.
Usually when it goes off soon after you start driving, and it beeps, that means that you actually do have low pressure. Mine went off when I was at 32 psi, vs my recommended 35.. I'm more than happy with that degree of accuracy.

Re: Low tire pressure light
How weird...I had that problem for the first time today.
Basically, I parked outside for the first time ever (had to store stuff in my garage for a night) last night. I drove not more than half a mile and the light went on. I pulled over and checked and all tires were at 30psi.
So I was wondering was it becasue it was cold out? Granted I live in SoCal so "cold" means low 50's or high 40's overnight, but if it was due to the weather then people on the east coast would have the problem all the time in the winter. Either way, it kind of made me wonder.

Re: Low tire pressure light
Interesting. Mine went off for the first time the other day after a noticeable climate change (here in Texas). Temps dropped about 15 degrees overall, and the sensor went off with the ten second beep. Checked all four tires and they _all_ were at almost exactly 32psi. I've inflated them to 35psi, and the sensor finally reset itself, but the ride on the stock Pilots is noticeably stiffer... would really like to get back to 32 if possible.
I thought I had read that this is something the dealer's service department can set... the sensor trigger threshhold. Is this so? Also, does anyone have any information linking the "feathering" problem and if specific tire pressures can cause it to happen? If overinflation (I think I remember having 32psi in the tires driving out of the dealer) is going to cause this to start happening, then I'd certainly want to see about getting the sensor relaxed... maybe to 29psi or something.
