I've been using V1s for 13 years now. It is difficult to explain to people that haven't used one how important the arrows are. It may be $400, but when a moderate ticket can run $300, it pays for itself quickly.

If cops are using laser in your area, a radar detector isn't going to help you much if at all. You really need a laser jammer for this and they can be reasonable to quite expensive but worthwhile (Escort 9500ci).

I have an Escort Redline I use for the highway because it's crazy sensitive. However, in the city I just don't even have it plugged in. (1) I don't speed much in the city anyways and (2) it goes off constantly.

If I were going to get one for the city, it would be the 9500xi. It has a database of redlight cameras and will store false detections in a gps system. So if your route is constant for instance and you've blocked out all the false alarms using gps from previous trips, the time it does go off you know something is up.

The 9500ci combines the redline and 9500xi along with laser jammers together but again is expensive.

I spent quite a lot of time researching what to get and quite frankly, the Redline was just as good or better than the V1. The only complaint was the lack of arrows. But really, that is the least of my concern.

I use to have a Beltronics V995. It worked great, and saved me plenty of times from the cops.Until it was stolen from my car.

Valentine 1 with mikes mount and invisiblecord

i go with it everyday and i cant drive without it.

the whole escort vs v1 is too big of a debate to choose. its based on personal preferences..different people have different outcomes from both devices.

and there are no laser detectors..well there is but i mean by the time you detect it..its too late it means they already hit you 9/10 times..the V1 has laser detector..but in order to save yourself from laser you need an actual laser jammer.

Don't buy cobra. Laser detection is a gimmick.

So far the best thing I've found it to set my high tech cruise at 5 above the limit and use my custom eyeballs to spot potential police cars up ahead. I do get false positives from time to time though.
