Radar Detectors

HI there:

I'm writing from Vancouver, B.C and find its about time to get a decent radar detector as its a cash cow business for issuing tickets up around here for the cops.

I have 05 G35 coupe and would like to get opinions on some recommended radar units that can detect the latest laser technology and that are being used, and be able to put the unit in a convenient place such as connect it to the rear view mirrror. Also can the average joe mount/install the units easily?

Appreciate replies

I have a Escort 8500 which is one of the top of the line. If you want the eBay link I got it from I could get that for you. Mine was around 200 and refurbished. Looks and works brand new. It finds the radars from a ways away. If you want the best, get a Valentine V1, my friend has one and its about the same as the Escort, it just tells you which way the cop is.

But if your state allows cops to use lasers then you'll need a laser jammer.

And yes, the Valentine and Escort are both are just the ones you put on the window... no installation.

Honestly the brand of a radar detector and price premium for crazy models is really only for features that most people wont use. I've read great reviews on $30 models for sale on Amazon. Just read reviews and see what you want out of the unit. All of these are pretty easily mountable.

Amazon Amazon

If it was a place where detectors are illegal, I'd say Beltronics Sti-R is the best for concealing it and it can't be detected. But, because its B.C. I'd go with Passport 9500xi..

Just get one of those above and you'll be fine... they are all about the same. BUT DO NOT BUY A COBRA They **** me off, they have such short range, and all they do is set off my Passport.
