When I fill up my tank it only takes 17 gallons?

New owner so I have only filled up 2 times...both times was about 15 miles after the gas light came on and both times it stopped at 17 gallons but my gas gauge shows full?

I see the thread below but that one states that the gas gauge isnt showing its full?

also my calculations im getting 19-20 mpg combined about 60% hwy 40% city....pretty normal?

Yes 19-20 is normal, way better than me . It only fills up to 17 because theres a few gallons left after the light...

Yeah, I think the light comes on when there is 4 gallons left in the tank. And be happy with 19-20 mpg. I wish I was getting that lol

Sounds about right man. The gas light tends to come on when you reach 4 gallons. I typically get 20.5-22mpg so sounds about average for you man!

i notice that when i fill my car up all the way i tend to get lower gas mileage than when i just bring it up to halfway. maybe when its at full i get a little greedy and hit that gas pedal a little harder

Gas weighs about 6lbs a gallon. For example, if your half full, then your not carrying an extra 60lbs

(Two) Times Since I have Owned by car did a let it go to the last mark (only b/c it was freezing outside and didn't want to freeze anymore than what I was). When I did fill up both times it took 17.4 gals....and you are lucky I go an average of about 276 miles per tank (normally 17 gallons), which is 16.23 mpg.....and my foot is NOT heavy to the pedal....I'm JUST A TYPICAL GURL DRIVER....SO FEEL PRIVILEGED YOU ARE GETTING THAT MANY MPG.....ENJOY IT!

try resetting your ecu (if you've never done it). might help you get a few extra mpg, but probably not much.
