Has anyone "reversed" the VDC setting and button?

I'm not a traction control guy. In fact, I can't stand it being on at all, dry or wet.

I grew up with more torque, smaller tires, a 5-speed and Michigan weather.

I'd like to have the car start with VDC off and then push the button to turn it on (for the wife).

Anyone done this before?

Thanks.

PS. Got my 5/16ths plenum in last night too, so expect dumb questions soon

Even if you push the button, you dont completely turn off traction control. To do that you have to pull the fuse.

Your best bet would be to find the wires leaving the fuse box for VDC and install a small toggle switch that keep it completely off.

Thanks, that's one option.

It must be programmed somewhere though.

Also, not completely off? You mean stability control is still on? Because I can roast the tires when the TC is off, it never kicks in.

Kptechnologies makes a module that saves your settings.

That's right, it doesn't turn off completely. I've only noticed it in a lot of water on the autocross course.

There is a tread on my350z about installing a toggle switch. With that said, the VDC on kicks in during SEVERE conditions if it is turned off. Basically you'd probably be crashing if on a regular road, so the KP tech option might be better.

Interesting, didn't realize that. So, ours is a 2-stage traction control for which KP Tech makes the perfect product for what I need.

Appreciate it, guys.

When you push the button it does turn off VDC, but you are still monitored. If the car thinks you are loosing extreme control, (drifting, dougnuts ect) the SLIP light will come on and limit throttle. Only way to turn off the SLIP light is to shut off the car and turn it back on.

Only way to 100% disable traction control is to pull the VDC fuse.

Not sure if it's the same for 07, but there is a way to wire up a on/off toggle switch to the yaw sensor behind the shift ****. I've done this on my 04 and I can do stand stills for days, not that I ever would. lol

I really dont care what people say, the car individually braking tires to make sure you are going straight is far superior to the brake pedal.

But yea, you can install a switch to make the button have memory of the last position it was in.

I'd suggest getting used to it. All new cars sold in the US are going to be required to have some form of VDC in the very near future. As for spending the money and going through the effort of removing or reversing the switch... seems like a waste of time for something that can be fixed with a simple button push or fuse pull.

Oh, I'm used to it. I simply prefer it off and have the money to make it happen how I want it to.

No worries, I know what I'm doing and why

I'll be an old dinosaur for a little longer

That's not true. There are other ways - such as cutting the power to the yaw sensor in the center console - and you retain ABS. Many threads on this.

To my understanding this will completely disable traction control and keep ABS...?
