2004 g35 overheats only idle with AC on

I have a 2004 g35 and i looked at the temp and it started to over heat when i was sitting in traffic with the ac on. Im not exactly sure what it is. Once i start to drive or turn the ac off it is fine. It has only done it 2 times and will only start to over heat if the car is idle with the ac on. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be. The car only has like 75000 miles and the only thing i know i need to change on it is its belts. Any input would be great!

Well there is a recall i got this summer notifying me on the possibility of the AC fans failing and they recalled them for 04-07 coupes.. Im not to mechanically inclined but i mean maybe something to deal with the thermostat beacuse my G has 82K holding strong.. im going to flush my radiator fluid and thermostat once it becomes nice out...

Could be a weak waterpump if it only does it at idle.

Could be low on coolant. Check overflow bottle. You can pour 50/50 mix coolant to the radiator only when engine is cold. Pour very slow.

Mine did that this summer. After flushing the radiator and filling and it continued to do so. i took it to the dealer and found that there were blockage in the radiator. They installed a new radiator and new hoses and it was fine.

hi to all i have the same problem and i did the research to the end ,on my case one of the fan was not spinning as fast as the other and some times it will not spin at all (the pasenger side ) so i dessambly the fan and found that this fans have 4 brushes and 2 of the brushes where stock and the contact was incomplete only 2 out 4 so i use a blade and scratch the brush ,this are made of graphite and they are rectangular y scratch 2 sides and ones that the move freely i reassemble the fan and problem solve and after 3 month in florida summer work perfect
so if any one have a problem like this it will be a good idea to check the fans before spend money on more complicated fixes

There are many posts on this subject, if you search you will have hours of reading available to you. I would bet your problem is with one or both of your fans, an easy check would be to open your hood, with the engine running turn on your air condition and see if both fans are running, both should be running with the A/C on.
