new g35 owner!

Hey all,

I'm a new G owner as of last weekend and just wanted to introduce myself on the forums. I have always been a big Honda fan (my family has always had only Honda/Acura) and my last car was a 2000 Prelude, but unfortunately was totaled in a rear-end collision about a month ago. I took this as my opportunity to upgrade rides

I got pretty lucky to find my car and pick it up within a few weeks of the accident. I think I got a pretty good deal- it's a 2006 OB on black coupe with 6MT and the premium package, which I think includes every single option minus the keyless start? With a set of brand new Conti Xtreme Contact DWS's and 52K miles, snatched it up for about 17.5K

This car has been a blast to drive so far, and even though it weights a lot more than my previous car, it still has the acceleration to really push you back in the seat. I previously had a 1994 Rx-7 TT, which accelerated REALLY hard and I've found the G to be somewhat comparable to it when I go WOT. All in all, really happy with my purchase.

Looking forward to learning more about the car as I browse the forums, and very glad to see that G35driver.com is yet another high-quality forum. I've been on some really useless ones for my Honda and it took me a while until I found one that actually had helpful things to contribute.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new car, looks great and sounds like you got a good deal on it!

Everything you need to know about the G can be found on this site, just make sure you've done some of your own research before starting a new thread to ask a question.

Welcome aboard, and you can get used to the driving enjoyment, which I don't think I'll ever get tired of........ever.

No complaints whatsoever.

Thanks. I don't think I'll get tired of driving it anytime soon, it's such a different animal compared to the 4-cylinders of Honda that I've been kind of used to for so long (even the rotary didn't have as much torque down low...until the first turbo kicked in at least)

Where can I get an updated navigation DVD btw? I'm pretty sure the one that came in my car is outdated because it couldn't recognize any of the roads I wanted to go on.

Congratulations on your purchase! Welcome to the forum.

BTW, this forum has its fair share of uselessness - anything I post contributes to the cause.

Sounds good, though you may get a few challenges from the old 4-banger folks occasionally, among others such as include Acura TSXs, old-school Integras............dare I say Altima 3.5 AND 2.5 Coupes. (What? Back up, FWD baby brother!! Chump.)

Or, at least the ones around here seem to want to be spanked.

So, Road Rule #1 notwithstanding - Safety 1st, No Tickets, Keep 'er Outta the Ditch - every now & then you may, as I do, choose to dust them off.

I'm thinking: There's only so much tolerance a man can have, so I must teach them not to mess with the prodigous mid-range torque of the venerable Nissan VQ35.

Then, as I stay in 3rd gear, let it up to about 4000-5000-5500 rpm as it hits 80+ mph in a flash; gets really jumpy beginning in the 4-5K range, as you will discover. Love it!

Regarding updated nav, that and satellite are the 2 options I don't have, but here may be good place to start.........another thread:

Take care.

I upgraded from a 2G eclipse and the G is definitely a different monster. Car looks good and for 17.5 you got a good deal.

BEWARE of the mod bug..........its almost impossible to avoid and its a drain on the wallet!
