Question Oil leak? Or just really dirty...

So my engine is looking kinda gunky...around the oil stick depot...

It appears oil has covered a lot of stuff arond that zone and is the reason i smell burning oil when i am stressing the engine.

Any ideas?

That's definitely not just dirt... most likely oil with lots of dirt caked into it.

yep, that's a leak (unless at some point somebody spilled oil up top, letting it run down the side of the engine, and never cleaned it off properly).

Clean it all off (degrease), drive for a few days and then take a look for the source.

Clean everything as good as you can, and check it often. If it's still leaking, you should see some oil leaking out somewhere within a few days of driving. Many times, in a motor, oil can spray or get blown away from its original source and onto other engine parts because of all the air flowing through the engine bay at highway speeds and with the radiator fan pushing air around in the bay.

Do you get any oil drips on your driveway or garage floor when you park it at night?
