Leak!!!

While pulling out of my driveway today I noticed a small spot of moisture from where the car was parked. I went over and touched it and it had an oily feel to it but was not the color of motor oil or anything. When I opened up my hood I saw on the rubber guard that covers the engine something is leaking. It doesn't seem to be motor oil because its not that brown color. It seems like a more clear color. You guys have any idea what the hell is going on? I called the dealer and made an appointment for tomorrow but I m very puzzled.

Re: Leak!!!

Nick when I saw the oil on the floor I immediately thought of your situation. Anyhow I couldn't wait in suspense any longer so I left work early and brought it by a friend's shop who has a lift. After putting it on the lift the only leak we could find is one of the hoses that carries the power steering fluid. It looked like the clamp on the hose was loose. So I m relieved but didnt have him fix it as the dealer is picking my car up tomorrow anyway so let them correct the faults on their product. I was debating not telling them what I know just to see what bs they were gonna come up with so that they could charge me but I'll make life easy and let them know what I found. That way I'll get my car back sooner...Nick which car u comming with to the meett?

Dunno yet... We'll have to wait and see. Hey man at least it's not oil. Then again I dont have a leak. But power steering fluid is never a good thing to be losing thats for sure. I'm sure they'll fix it up for you in no time.

Re: Leak!!!

You have no idea how relieved I am that its not oil. When we were removing the rubber cover underneath the car I was like damn what's it gonna be. Mad nervous. Thank God it was only power steering. I should definitely get my car back tomorrow. Unless some force of nature @ Infiniti causes that to change. In any case I m sure they'll provide a loaner. 2 loaners at the wash meet? lol

Re: Leak!!!

If its clear why can't it be water? Or maybe power steering fluid? Probably not power steering becasue more of the line don't do under the car...but something from the radiator. I'm not sure where you live or the condition (garage? temp?) of where you keep your car and taking it for a check up to the dealership is always good but its probably not something to freak out on. Hope this is somewhat calming?

Re: Leak!!!

Did you have the dealer look at your brakes? The service dept at my dealer topped off the brake fluid and left the cap off... had that stuff spill quite a bit by the time I had gotten home. Why are there always idiots at the dealer?
