Ceramic burning smell
Ceramic burning smell
I bought a 2006 g35 coupe mt about a year ago and I am fairly new to this forum. I apologize if my issue has already been answered, but I have not seen the exact description.
I recently started to notice that after I get out of my car after driving for about 20 minutes I smell a mild ceramic burning smell. Nothing overwhelming and I do not smell it inside the car at all. I will smell it after my normal 20 minute drive to work, highway driving at about 75, not going about 4,000 RPM. The car was just inspected and passed without any issues. They mentioned that I should replace my drive belts soon, but that was it. Any ideas of what this could be?
Thank you in advance for the the help

Welcome to DRIVER....!
It's possible that those belts are worn enough so they're slipping which would make the smell you're describing. You were told they need replacing, do so and see if the odor your noticing goes away. The quality of the OE belts you can buy from Nissan are far better than your auto parts store trash, trust me on this!

could be the infamous "burning clutch" issue with the rev-up motors and 6mt transmissions. do a search on here and you will see a ton of info on it. I had the same issue with my sedan and followed the instructions on cleaning the clutch fluid out and have not had any problems since
I started a thread awhile back about a weird burning smell. Dont know if it will be any help, but check out the thread. I think ive narrowed it down to leaky valve cover gasket.

Cool thanks. Its weird because I don't always smell it. I popped the hood and reved the engine after my drive home last night and couldn't smell anything near the belt. This morning I didn't smell it either.
